It was his day off but still everything was work, everything was a responsibility. His laptop was open, fingers abusing the keyboard as if it had offended him in an unthinkable way and it deserved nothing but torture. He was hidden in the corner of the small diner – a habit of his training, he always had to have eyes on all exits of a place. He always had to look for a corner. Despite the fact that he was writing his story and it looked as if he was lost in it – his dream of being a writer turning into nothing more than a hobby – he kept attention to all of his surroundings. A housewife annoyed with her husband, a teenager who believed that putting on the wrong lipstick was as brutal as facing the forth horseman of the apocalypse and a man who was scratching lottery tickets as if he hadn’t done it many times before and as if he was still believing he would win. They seemed to be harmless. Harmless enough for him to focus on his laptop for a moment – a moment no longer than a sharp intake of breath. It proved to be a mistake, he was caught off guard when he felt someone spilling a hot beverage on his lap. Thankfully, he knew how not to show pain. “ If you cannot take care of your own drink, perhaps you should ask for assistance.” Jughead remarked through gritted teeth as finally decided to tear his eyes away from the bright screen.
