The secret world of Arrietty, Ponyo, Nausicaa of the valley of the wind? ❤️
Hello, my good friend. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you're doing well 🖤
🫖 The Secret World of Arrietty: What is one person or one thing that has left a deep impression on your heart?
(I got this ask twice, so I shall share one person - for one thing, check here)
One person - My Grandfather (Tata)
My Tata was a quiet man, one’s whose actions spoke louder than words. He had this calming aura that would simply wash over you, pushing away any worries you may have been weighed down by. Humble and kind, with a mix of mischief, he was a cheeky old bird.
I would follow him around a lot as a child, helping him build puzzles, tend to his garden, or watch him paint. We'd often sit together outside on the swing in the backyard for hours. Watching the sky as it shifted in colorful emotions or the birds as they'd stop by to bathe and chatter. Listen to the rhythmic beating of raindrops, or the soft rattling of the leaves as they swayed in the evening breeze.
You never needed to prove anything to him, you could just simply BE, and I always deeply appreciated that.
He taught many a thing, lessons and values that I am continuously learning to instill into my own life. To stay appreciative of what you have, to enjoy the simple, to respect nature, the value of silence in an ongoing noisy world. To embrace humility, and take life one day at a time.
I will always treasure his memory, and hope to make him proud one day.
🪣 Ponyo: What is your favorite recipe/food to share with others?
hahah I don't know about my own recipes, but I enjoy baking or trying out new healthy recipes I find with others. Peanut butter energy bites, fresh fruit bowls with coconut shavings, nuts, and plain yogurt, breads, etc. One favorite is simple apple slices with cinnamon + peanut butter. Nourish your body and share that with the people around you, I say.
🌬 Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind: What or who, do you believe is worth saving?
I believe in saving arts education. We owe our very livelihood to the dreams and minds of the creatives of the world. Everything from our architecture, clothes, cuisine, entertainment, design, even our phones, etc. That is all thanks to artists. It's disheartening that today's society is failing to recognize just how impactful the arts are to our living. And it pains me to hear schooling agendas or society dismiss creativity and the arts, cutting programs or stating them as less desirable career paths.
The arts are key to human development. They teach innumerable lessons that not only enrich our lives, but lessons we can apply to our every day living. Self expression, mindfulness, enhanced communication skills and cognition, problem solving - These are just a few of the benefits to having art education. The arts are just as important as traditional academics, and they should be treated with greater respect and recognition in today's society.
While the arts may not be considered a necessity and are moreso seen as a luxury, I firmly deem them necessary for our humanity.
