Hey guys! A couple days ago, I put out the possibility of me doing one of these things. I know this isn’t for everyone, so if you’d rather wait for the actual work to be posted, understood! Don’t click on the read below line. As for the people who enjoy reading information about characters and the story they probably wouldn’t know otherwise, then feel free to read on! I really enjoyed this!
~Angelo
1. Describe your plot in one sentence.
People should be careful when they’re hanging in a void, because everything can break in one moment; one night can test the strength of a friendship.
2. Pick one sight, smell, sound, feel, and taste to describe the aesthetic for your work.
Sight: Boxes scattered among an empty room.
Smell: A subtle scented candle
Sound: Melancholic piano tune in the background of lively chatter
Feel: Nostalgia, Confusion, Bittersweet
Taste: Sweet like chocolate syrup, Bitter like vinegar
3. Which 3+ songs would make up a playlist for the work?
Interpret how you will! Sometimes I listen to songs and the feeling it gives me is what inspires me. Sometimes it’s the message of it, sometimes it can be a single lyric. It’s a case by case basis (:
We Are Young- fun ft. Janelle Monáe
Team- Lorde
Dreams Tonite- Alvaays
Lovely- Billie Eilish ft. Khalid
The Less I Know The Better- Tame Impala
Somebody Else- The 1975
iT’s YoU- Zayn
sHe- Zayn
Who do u love?- MONSTA X ft. French Montana
4. What’s the time period and location in which the work takes place?
It’s modern day. And the actual location is up to you. What matters is that it’s a group of friends taking on their university days, their work lives and their relationships with each other. The story itself mostly takes place in an apartment.
5. Are there former titles you’ve considered but discarded?
Well, here are two title ideas I have that I will likely be scrapping:
Let’s Be New
Go On This Ride With Me
6. What’s the first line of your work?
Here! I’ll post the first paragraph!
When a person enters a world as big and unpredictable as this one, they will never be certain about what awaits them in the future. Stepping out of the house, there are infinite paths a person can take that will alter their future, both literally and figuratively. Every person you’ve met has affected you, every place you’ve been has left their mark. Maybe it isn’t clear or as prominent as others, but everywhere you go your presence is imprinted.
7. What’s a line of dialogue you’re particularly proud of?
“It’s only a matter of time before a person finds themselves enamored with an angel.”
8. Which line from the work most represents it as a whole?
I don’t think I’ve written it yet...
9. What is a distinct physical trait about one of your characters?
Well, Jimin’s character used to dye his hair blond when he was at a high point of his life. At the time the story is taking place, he doesn’t dye his hair blond anymore ):
10. Sort your characters into Hogwarts Houses Divergent Factions.
Don’t come for me. I don’t mind Harry Potter, I just don’t know much about it. So I went with something I knew.
Candor: Taehyung, most definitely. I think honesty is so important to him, and struggles with the reality when his friends are not upfront with him. You’ll definitely see traces of that in the work.
Dauntless: I would have to say Ryujin. She’s one of those spicy characters you either love or hate. Jungkook, as well. He’s brave and unafraid under most circumstances.
Erudite: Chaeyeon, definitely. She values her education and everything business the most.
Abnegation: Jimin and Hoseok. At first, you’ll see glimpses of Jimin’s internal struggle. In fact, I think as a reader you’ll get to experience two versions of him. But he really values putting others above him. Hoseok is the glue that holds everyone together and will sacrifice his own comfort to make sure his friends are okay.
Amity: The OC. One of her distinct personality traits is her distaste for drama, tension, hostility. She values peace and harmony.
11. Which character’s the easiest to write?
As of right now, Taehyung’s character is the easiest to write for me. I haven’t quite figured out why he’s always the easiest to portray in any of my works. Whenever I mention him, the words just flow. It’s great.
12. Describe each character’s daily outfit.
The OC: I’m going to leave that one to your imagination (;
Chaeyeon: Plaid dress, plaid skirt with a solid color blouse to match.
Ryujin: Hip hop edge. Type to wear all black with a leather jacket, or cropped hoodie with matching bottoms and jordans.
Taehyung: Classy, Elegant, Cozy. Loosely fitted button up shirt half- tucked into slacks.
Jimin: Hoodie with ripped jeans, combat boots, and maybe a jean jacket thrown over.
Jungkook: designer T-shirt with either sweats or light blue jeans. All black chucks.
Hoseok: Darker colors. Dresses up on weekends, keeps it to athletic wear on weekdays.
13. Name one personality trait for each character.
OC: Passionate; Dismissive
Chaeyeon: Wise; High-maintenance
Ryujin: Determined; Judgmental
Taehyung: Romantic; Unrealistic
Jimin: Attentive; Distant
Jungkook: Observant; Blunt
Hoseok: Optimistic; Self-critical
14. Which character most fits a character trope?
Unfortunately, Jungkook fits the “secretly in love with his friend who’s already taken” trope.
15. Which characters have the closest relationships?
Taehyung-Ryujin: Childhood best friends
Taehyung-Jungkook-Jimin: Roommates and best friends
OC-Jimin: Closest guy-girl friendship within the group
OC-Chaeyeon: Best friends
Hoseok-OC: Couple
Hoseok-Jimin: Good friends prior to the friend group forming
However, all of them are in the same friend group.
16. Which characters fight the most? Fight the least?
Well, Taehyung and Ryujin clash a lot. They know how to push each other’s buttons. Ryujin can fight with anyone, though, and does all the time. Jungkook can be a smart ass but he doesn’t cause issues. Most of it is light-hearted… when everything is normal.
As for this story… they’re all in disharmony.
17. What character swears the most? Least?
Probably Tae or Ryujin. Taehyung doesn’t like to do it, but he always catches himself slipping. Ryujin loves to do it. For the least, Chaeyeon. She doesn’t like the sound of it.
18. Which character has the best handwriting? Worst?
For the girls, Chaeyeon. She likes living a calculated life. For the boys, Jimin.
19. Which character is the most like you? Least?
I would like to say each of them carry a part of me. Whether it’s a personality trait or simply something they like. My goal is for each of them to be different from me, though. The character least like me would have to be Ryujin.
20. Which character would you most like to be?
I would like to be as organized and responsible as Chaeyeon. I would like to have the same optimism as Hoseok or Taehyung. I also appreciate how thoughtful Taehyung can be. And Jimin’s kindness. Ugh, they all are kind of great I don’t know. I want them to be my real friends.
Thank you so much if you decided to read this far. I’m sure it wasn’t the most interesting, but I truly enjoyed this. It made me further develop my characters and form a deeper understanding of them than I had even prior to this.
The new work will be out sooner than you think (;
Special thanks to @borrovvedyoongi for always being so sweet and expressing your enthusiasm, as well as @konapapanik for carrying thoughtful conversations.
Hey just dropping in to tell you guys that I’m really excited for my wip. It’s going to include a part of me that I hope I do justice toward. A whole new batch of characters that feels right finally, and I look forward to hearing what you guys think. Thanks again for those who showed their enthusiasm through the voting poll. And I’m just excited for all the character dynamics I will be exploring. I typically focus a lot on male friendships in my fics, and for the first time it’s going to be different. I decided to test it out and see if I like it.
I’m also going to throw in some easter eggs from my other works. I wonder if anyone will notice (;
I’ve been working on my Hoseok fic for quite a while. And I’m almost done with it! I love the characters and I love their personalities and relationships.
Here’s the thing. It’s so long, longer than I wanted. But I was going through it and couldn’t figure out what to take out. But when I envisioned this work, I suspected it would be one part.
And idk why it’s making me halt and think about it. If I edit it too much, I’m afraid it’ll lose substance. But breaking it into two parts was never my intention.
Ughhh I’m at a loss.
Also. This work isn’t really a “Hoseok” work. Yes, there’s a relationship sprinkled in there but it’s the first time my main focus isn’t the main pair and instead on the friendships.
Maybe that’s not your cup of tea, reading about the dynamics between friends.
And I worry if it’s too much. The point of this piece is to test the bond of the friends, see what can break it and what they can come back from.
And after writing a tense scene last night, I wonder how much is TOO much ya know?
I’m sorry if this dampens your timeline.
I just don’t know where I’m at with my story anymore. I’m pretty close to the finish line but now I have these thoughts bothering me.
