"—no question about your strength," Aurelius is saying to Klaus over the sound of the waves. "The issue is controlling that power to an even finer point. You could think of it as transforming light into strands, and threading each one through a needle..."
It's chilly, but they've found a secluded spot of Golden Ward's shorelines to have a quick spar. In the aftermath Aurelius lectures Klaus about his moves, which the seraph puts into practice via practical demonstration. When he comes to him again, Aurelius recalls his own conversation with Vanth.
Indeed, he does want to know...
"Klaus," he begins when his partner is close enough. "I seem to recall, back in your travels, that your other companions were besotted with you."
"Miyena in particular. Would you have married her if we never met?"
That...isn't quite the question he means to ask, but it gets the point across. Probably.
