Hi peeps, time to strap in and #meetthemaker! I'm Lysa of #MakeRuckusPress. Everything I do, everything I am, everything that makes me *me* is noisy, both inside and out. I've been making art as far back as I can remember, ceramics in particular for over forty years. I've been making jewelry and art for myself and others since I was nine. I am smitten with texture and type, ink and impression, the #anglesandcurves of all these earthy, organic things, making my mark on the world in my own small, noisy way. The sound and fury of my flavor of #bipolardisorder (I am an #ultradianrapidcyler) makes it hard for many people to understand why I am the way I am, what drives my intensity, what fuels my euphoria, dysphoria, and depression. I have found, in my 49 years on this planet, precious few people willing and able to deal with me full strength. They understand that being a Maker is the *only* thing that keeps me as sane as I am. I make art because I have to in order to stay alive, in order to survive. Pictured with me in the first photo is #ameliathepilotpress, my first real letterpress. She's joined by #spenserthekelseypress in the studio in my drafty AF Victorian. My preference is for #metaltype and #woodtype; my fave fonts are #stymie, #franklingothic, and #futura. The ceramics techniques I have crafted are #tornclaypots and #pastapottery, and I use lots of found texture, things you recognize once I point them out. I love tools with multiple uses, letterpress dies in clay for example, and not just the front but the back as well. I'm also a #fiberspinner and a #knitter among other things. I live in the beautiful #hudsonvalley with @mrgrumblebee, #ivanrumpelteazer, and #yevgenymungojerrie. Ask me any questions you like; I'm an open book. Thanks for coming along for the ride! #smooches 💜💜🦄🦄🌈🌈😘😘 (at MakeRuckus Press)
