Sorry but not Sorry About Not Believing Gullveig is Either Angrboða or Freyja!
There seems to be this really weird arguement I see pop up on occasion, time and time again, regarding the secret identity of Gullveig. Most people seem to dwell in one of two camps regarding this subject, either you're in the Gullveig is secretly Freyja camp, or you're in the Gullveig is secretly Angrboða camp.
Okay, fair enough, believe what you want to believe, as I would never try to stop you or change your mind on this subject, even if I could, but can someone please explain to me why people are downright possessive and obssessive over this subject? I've even seen people get feral over others not buying their personal belief of who Gullveig actually is, or worse yet, they go ahead and loose their absolute shit over somebody believing that Gullveig is simply Gullveig, and neither Freyja nor Angrboða.
I actually recently lost a friendship with somebody over that last one. They couldn't handle the fact that I think Gullveig is simply her own person, and not somebody else in disguise. More so, they hated the fact that I refuse to buy into their belief that Angrboða is Gullveig. Then again, I know that they hate the fact that I don't want anything to do with weird mixture of Satanism, Ceremonial Magic, Left Hand Path, and Norse Paganism that is ðursatrú, which I fully admit to having some major personal issues with.
Hell, I might end up losing a second friendship over this whole thing, though I hope that doesn't end up being the case. Time will tell, I guess, and there's nothing I can really do except be honest and try to come from a space of respectful disagreement.
Just in case anyone reading this hasn't figured out which camp I'm firmly sitting in regarding Gullveig's identity, I believe that Gullveig is Gullveig, and is neither Freyja nor Angrboða.
