Draco had had enough of Harry Potter. How dare he think that he could act as a savior for him and expect everything to be okay between them.
Draco was utterly mollified when he got to know that Potter, that atrocious little wanker, had given an interview claiming Draco's innocence during the war and how he was 'completely harmless like a baby kitten'.
He could not stand being compared to a mere feline. Draco considered himself much more ferocious and superior.
He stormed up to the Golden Boy and whacked him on the shoulder with the newspaper.
"How dare you, Potter!" He bellowed and took out his wand, placing it as his throat.
Potter just looked surprised, barely reacting to the impact on his shoulder or the wand at his throat. His pal, Weasley just stood next to him, glaring at Draco. Neither of them looked remotely threatened by Draco, they just stood there waiting for him to lash out or say something to them.
Draco felt insulted.
"Why would you say that?" He scoffed at Potter, who raised his eyebrows, "From what I have perceived, Draco Malfoy is completely harmless like a baby kitten and wouldn't even think of hurting anybody," He said in a high pitched voice, reciting the words Potter had said in the interview, "What the hell is wrong with you? Has the stick up your arse get taller and is now poking your useless brain?"
Potter looked furious at that and walked forward till Draco was pressed against the wall, not caring about the wand poking at his throat.
Draco sneered at him, raising his chin, pressing the wand further, "Is the Chosen One so great that he is going to undermine poor little Death Eater Draco Malfoy?"
That was the last straw. Harry's hands placed themselves on either side of his head, their noses brushing and eyes glinting with anger.
"I dare you say that again, pretty boy," He whispered lowly. Draco felt heat creep up his spine, his neck and up his cheeks which had turned deep red just by the choice of his words.
Pretty boy.
The tension was high and the air quiet, like the calm before a storm. Their chests were heaving and faces were inching closer and closer.
"Did you just call Malfoy pretty?" Came the terrified voice of Ron Weasley from behind Potter and Potter smirked.
"I did," He tucked a hair behind Draco's ear and stepped back, "Make sure to keep your mouth tamed, pretty boy or I'll make sure that you'll be punished next time,"
Draco's eyes widened as he watched the two friends stalk away, his heart thundering with anticipation and tension.
He heard Weasley ask Potter, "Punished? Are you going to tell McGonagall?"

A beautiful winter day with your favorite people - that's how you'd prefer to spend the rest of your days. Pansy and Daphne, the sweetest couple you knew, Theo and Blaise, the most switch couple you knew, and you and Draco (your personal favorite) all made their way down to the library for a triple study date.
"Draco, it's not studying if you're whispering obscenities into Y/N's ear every minute. We can hear, you know?" Blaise muttered, which earned a nudge from Theo, defending the pair.
"Listen, we're just glad you're together and not extensively denying your undying love like before." Theo shuddered, which cued Pansy and Daphne to nod their heads and widen their eyes, making a point.
"Someone needs to learn how to whisper better, and I'm almost positive it's not me." You smirked, whispering into Draco's ear. You didn't respond to the remarks he made about wanting to take you right there and then, in front of your friends. Instead, you only placed a hand somewhere on his body to settle him and continued reading, occasionally pointing out facts you thought he would find interesting.
"Y/N, you're studying for Arithmancy, right?" Daphne asked, leaning forward to show interest. By almost all professors, Arithmancy was claimed to be the most challenging subject a student at Hogwarts could take.
You nodded and began to explain how easy the course was as long as you kept your memory intact.
"Merlin, Y/N, you're crazy. Absolutely not. No force on Earth could make me take that class." Pansy said, shaking her head in disgust and admiration for you.
"It's not that bad." A voice mused from behind you, but the speech was not warm enough to be Draco's and certainly not nearly as attractive. None of you turned around to match the voice to the speaker. There was no need.
"McLaggen," Daphne announced, disappointed, looking like she was fighting the urge to punch him square in the jaw. At the mention of his surname, both you and Draco looked at each other sympathetically. He was the most insignificant nuisance you two had ever come across. "Come to steal my girlfriend again?" Daphne looked like if he stepped one step closer to Pansy, she would start spewing curses, not even bothering to warn with hexes first. The last time Daphne had encountered Cormac, he was coming onto Pansy, trying to get her to go on a date with him, even after your multiple looks of disapproval and telling him that Daphne had "claimed" Pansy already.
Poor Pansy. You thought to yourself, repulsed without even having to look at him. His presence was enough to make you want to hurl. He should've been in Slytherin.
"Not in my plans for today," Cormac said coolly, which made Draco groan, knowing who he'd prey on next. Now at the table your friends always went to for solace, Cormac smirked at you, licking his lips as he eyed you. If you weren't sitting on Draco's lap, Draco would've already been forcefully showing him the door. "Y/N, you can't say Arithmancy is easy when you're top of the class." He smirked again, but what made it all the more infuriating was that the suggestiveness of his appearance did not match what he was saying in the slightest.
"Guess I can't." You muttered, averting Cormac's uncomfortable gaze and crossing your arms to show discomfort. A few seconds of awkward silence went by, and you finally spoke up. "Why are you even here?" You said rudely, not caring about how it sounded.
"Just came to see what you were up to." Cormac grinned, faking innocence.
"Well, if you couldn't already tell, I'm currently preoccupied." You said sassily, pointing down at where you were sitting, glancing up at Draco to make sure he was okay. He was not. The man was gripping his quill so hard it was sure to break if you didn't dismiss Cormac soon. You caressed his arm, and that seemed to help relax him, but you knew it wouldn't be for long.
Cormac frowned at first, probably trying to come up with a response. When he did, he grinned a creepy smile, so wide his molars were almost on display. "Why don't you preoccupy yourself with someone more... interesting?"
In an instant, Draco slid you off him delicately and swiftly, making sure not to hurt you. "I'm sorry, my love." Draco said gently to you, bending a bit to give you a sweet kiss on the tip of your nose. Of course, that was only before turning around and kissing Cormac's nose as well... with his fist.
"Ugh, men suck." Theo groaned, which made Blaise look at him very confused before getting up to perform his regular duties.
"Mate, come on, it's not worth it - oh, you're doing quite nicely." Blaise said vivaciously, snapping back to attempting to pull Draco off Cormac. Unfortunately, at this point, Blaise's talkativeness was becoming a public safety hazard.
"Blaise - really?" Pansy said, annoyed, getting up and stunning both fighting men with the body-binding curse with her wand.
"Aw man, why didn't I think of that?" Blaise whined, smacking a hand to his forehead, which earnt a giggle from you and his boyfriend.
As you made your way over to your stunned love, who had fallen face forward, you made sure to "accidentally" kick bloody and frozen Cormac. Then, remembering the two could still feel, see, and hear, you bent down to Draco, whispering a vulgarity back in his ear. "I'll reward you for that tonight." You said, pressing a kiss to his earlobe before muttering the countercurse to bring him back to his range in motion. Stealing a glance at Cormac's situation, you could see that his pupils had constricted, almost invisible.
"Oh, come on, you too?" Theo groaned, hearing what you'd said, which would embarrass you if it weren't for Draco, who sprang back up and helped you off the ground.
"Should we just leave him there?" Pansy asked, pointing at the paralyzed body sprawled on the ground, uninterested in staying in the room any longer.
"Yeah, he'll unfreeze sooner or later." Daphne said, which stringed whole-hearted laughs from the rest of the group. You waved your wand, making all the book and study materials sprawled out onto the table disappear back to where they belonged. "Thank you, Draco." Daphne said quietly while the rest of the group was walking out. "I know you did it for Y/N, but Pansy and I really appreciate it." Daphne was smart enough to know that Blaise and Theo wouldn't be held back if they'd known Cormac preyed on you when they weren't there. For that reason, she lowered her voice a little more. "He's been bothering all three of us for so long that I didn't know how long it'd be until one of us broke." Daphne smiled up at Draco and down at you, nothing but love in her eyes.
Draco nodded and gave Daphne a loving kiss at the crown of her head. Pansy and she had always been more like little sisters to Draco than best friends. "Of course, Daph."
"So, The Three Broomsticks?" You asked, smiling, getting rid of all the excess tension from the previous engagement.
"Yes!" Everyone said, Blaise the loudest, of course.
What started as a semi-peaceful study date ended up the best night of your life. Of course, Draco got some extra credit, but you felt so grateful and lucky to be able to call the people at that table your friends.
Prompt was Day Nine, Thirdwheeling: Your OTP plus a third wheel. Is it awkwardly quiet, or chaotically crazy?
"Wow Potter you picked a surprisingly nice restaurant. I didn't know you had such tolerable taste. "
"Why thank you Malfoy, I didn't know you could do compliments"
Draco smiled to himself, this was his second date with Harry and things were actually going really well. They had agreed not to tell anyone yet because they didn't really know how anyone would react, and they wanted to make sure they were in a place that they could handle serious negative reactions.
So Draco was obviously very concerned when a certain Ron Weasley walks into the restaurant.
"Harry" Draco hissed "Weasley is here" Harry spun around and spotted Ron at the counter "Oh God" Harry whisper-yelled "What do we do"
"Hope he doesn't come over here and if he does pretend we have been forced to do this" Harry nodded then looked around
"Looks like we will have to move straight to phase 2 because here he comes"
Ron came strolling over to the table, looking rather confused
'Hey Harry" he said before pausing to add "Malfoy"
"Hi Ron"
"Weasley"
Ron looked even more confused, as if he had just processed the fact that Harry and Malfoy were sitting at a table together
"Say Harry mate, what are you doing"
"Oh well you see me and Malfoy were um"
Harry trailed off, lying had never exactly been a strong skill of his. Luckily for Harry, Draco seamlessly picked up where he left off
"Well Weasley, as you know, Potter has just started working as a healer, and we work in the same division. The head of the division got so sick of us fighting all the time he forced us to come have dinner, to see if we could get along or else he would fire both of us, so unfortunately here we are"
Ron nodded, looking appeased
"Ahh right then, I may as well join you then mate, make it slightly more bearable"
"Jeez Ron thats real nice of you, but you must have been meeting someone here right, I would hate to make you miss out on that"
Ron laughed "Nah its alright mate, it was just some business partner, no big deal"
Draco rolled his eyes "That is a terrible business plan Weasley"
Harry discreetly nudged Draco's foot under the table, and gave him a warning look"
"So' Ron said breaking the silence "We gonna order some food or what, Bloody hell I'm starving"
Draco barely resisted the urge to roll his eyes again.
Reading the menus did not detract from the awkward silence that had befallen the group, Draco almost cried with relief when the waiter finally came to take their orders. After ordering, which once again reminded Draco of just how much that Weasley could eat, silence once again fell upon the table.
Ron was the first to speak up, "So Harry, you're a healer now, right"
"yes Ron" Harry sighed, Draco assumed he had picked up on the slightly accusatory tone in Ron's voice. Ron had struggled quite a bit when Harry had decided to leave auror training, ti pursue other careers from what Harry had told Draco. As much as Harry had tried to convince Ron it wasn't a personal attack on him, Draco was pretty sure Ron was still a bit mad.
"Must seem like a pretty terrible decision now, having to work with Malfoy" Ron said "I still don't understand why you left, an auror is like the best job ever for you"
Harry sighed again "Come on Ron do we really have to do this right now"
"I just think you've made a bad decision"
"And I appreciate your concern but this is my life, and I get to choose what I do with it"
"At least try to make good choices then"
Draco could see Ron was starting to get quite worked up, and Draco himself was a seething mass inside. How dare he talk to Harry in that way, Harry is his friend, and Weasley is lucky to know the amazing, wonderful, perfect person that is Harry Potter. So Draco spoke up "I think you should leave now Weasley"
Ron went silent and turned to face Draco
"You heard me Weasley, leave"
As Ron was gasping in shock, Draco snuck a look at Harry. He was staring at the table, eyes a bit watery. Even though Draco couldn't quite understand why, he knew Harry really valued Weasley's opinion, so when he finally spoke up Draco was ready to fight
"Well I'm pretty sure Harry would rather have me here that you, you prat"
"No i think he would rather I was here, at least I don't attack his life choices and put him down"
"I'm not doing that at all"
"YES YOU ARE LOOK AT HARRY HE IS ALMOST CRYING BECAUSE OF YOU"
Ron paused for a second to look at Harry, and seemed to want to say something, but the fight with Draco was too alluring
"WHY DO YOU CARE ANYWAY YOU PRAT'
'BECAUSE WE ARE DATING YOU UNOBSERVANT MORON, AND AS HARRYS BOYFRIEND I CAN SAY YOU SHOULD BE LUCKY TO HAVE HARRY IN YOUR LIFE AND YOU ARE TREATING HIM LIKE RUBBISH SO ENJOY PAYING THE BILL, ITS THE LEAST YOU CAN DO"
With that Draco walked round, grabbed Harrys arm and lead him out of the restaurant.
conversations with an azkaban detainee: april seventh
“This was your fucking plan all along?” Harry raged, pacing the room like a caged animal. Laughable considering Draco was the one in chains. “You stupid fuc—”
Vince cut him off smoothly, voice calm. “Actually, it was mine.”
If possible, Harry’s eyes narrowed even more, but Hermione spoke before he could. “It’s the best option we’ve got.”
“I’m the best option he’s got,” Harry snapped, finally slowing his steps.
Draco couldn’t help it. He tossed his head back, a full belly laugh bursting out. “No, no, no,” he wheezed once he finally reigned it in. “It’s just that’s the most hilarious thing I’ve heard since Flitwick was caught wanking with Faraday’s portrait!”
Harry stopped in his tracks, eyes narrowing. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means you damn well could have gotten me out if you had tried. It means you’re a bloody joke. It means I know you’ve been playing house with Neville and only visiting me when your guilt becomes too much.” Draco hissed. “It means you’ll soon—”
“It means you, Harry, need to leave,” Vince cut in again. “And Draco, you need to shut up.”
