Slow, heavy steps carried the tall man into the room. Ever since the incident two weeks ago, he somewhat lost any motivation he once had.  His motivation to get up in the morning, gone. His motivation to prepare meals, gone. His motivation to go to work, gone. Actually, even his motivation to walk had left him.  Left him, just like a certain, very important part of his life recently had. 

A deep sigh accompanied him from the hallway into the kitchen. The room had once seemed small, not enough space for two people to move freely. Now, it was like the different parts of the furniture were too far away from each other. Far away, just like he was from the one he wished to be close to.

The movements of his whole body were slowed down. He wished to be able to slow down time manually. Maybe, just maybe, he would have been able to prevent what had happened. Maybe he would have been able to save him.

Green hair carelessly fell into his eyes, he didn’t bother brushing it aside, there was no use to it anyway. 

Tiredly, he pushed up his glasses, finding the tape around his fingers rather neglected. He turned around, leaving the room with countless lifeless steps, almost falling onto the bed that was now too big to sleep in. He buried his face in the pillow, breathing in the other’s smell. The smell, that he would never be able to smell again, as soon as it left the items he left behind.

Before he could silently break out in tears, those he had held in for what seemed like a long time now, he turned around, pushing himself up with both his muscular arms.

Something rustled beneath his touch.

“Wha–” he grabbed the piece of paper that was carefully draped under his own pillow, unfolded it, and started reading.

‘Dear Shin-chan,’

By the end of the letter, he could barely read a word through the coat of tears that covered his face.
