So, Robert's side of the family grieving Hope? Because you can't tell me only John misses her. Maybe throw in some comfort if you want to make it a bit nicer, up to you! slight bladerunner au (?) where John hunts humanoid androids and he can't get himself to kill a particularly convincing (and beautiful) one

John has hunted androids for a long time, he's gotten good at it and thinks he knows all of their tells

He meets Gale when he's at a bar, and is instantly stunned by his beauty

What if Gale doesn't even know he's an android either (kinda like bladerunner 2049) and this was the first time John couldn't tell he was an android either

They fall in love, obviously, and John continues to hunt androids; Gale still hasn't figured out he's an android yet

His boss, Harding, gives him a case of an android that has been eluding the police force for a long time, and needs to be dealt with before he becomes and even larger problem

John is all gung-ho about it until he actually gets the case file

It's Gale, he's been ordered to kill Gale, the "person" he loves

That night, John confronts him about it

Gale swears he didn't know that he was an android and desperately tries to make John believe him

John has him at gunpoint the entire time, finger poised, but can never bring himself to shoot Gale

Instead, they choose to run away together and try to escape the city

Now this could end one of two ways and I can't decide what I like better (lmk what you guys think)

One: They're caught by the police, but John does a big ol' show and kills Harding, finally managing to escape with Gale so they can run away together (happy-ish ending?)

Two: They're caught by the police and Harding kills Gale, forcing John to watch. John will spend the rest of his life in prison for trying to assist an android (angsty ending)
