An experiment:
The other night I had a dream that I made a black hole in Anim8or with a functional gravitational lensing effect created with a Transparent class object. I did it in real life and it worked! Well... for the most part. If I can get rid of that shadow the "lens" is causing, I could potentially make something really cool with this idea.
For context, Anim8or is a quite rudimentary 3D software compared to Blender and paid programs. It doesn't even have physics or a particle engine.
Nonetheless, despite the things it can't do, and the fact that there are people out there on the internet who are genuinely offended enough that someone dares to use "outdated" 3D software that they'll actually take time out of their day to send me hate for it, it's still my favorite 3D modeler to use.
It's free, and it's so much easier to learn for beginners to 3D. If you're clever, you can make it do surprising things.
