I kept hearing people raving about this movie, and I finally had the chance to watch it. The first thing that stood out for me was how warm it felt, from the very first scene. I honestly thought it would be funnier, but what I did not expect was for it to pack such an emotional wallop. Its meditation on grief and remembrance hit me in all the feels without ever becoming too overwhelming for the movie's overall tone. The CGI animation for the sheep is truly remarkable, considering this didn't have a blockbuster budget or anything like that. The voice acting is also excellent, which isn't always a given with celebrity voice casts. Overall, The Sheep Detectives is a movie that brought me back to the golden era of family cinema.
