My final for my Intro to Animation course. I really enjoyed hand drawn animation, so I decided to do something inspired by Aleksandr Petrov's The Mermaid. It is a remarkable animation using oil paint on glass, and though the title is translated as "The Mermaid," she is actually a siren. Hence the title of my animation, The Siren. I'll let you draw your own interpretations from this.
Now THIS is what I consider my first serious animation. I was taking a World Mythologies course the same semester I made this, so I drew on what we had learned in class for this piece, which I call Twin Gods.
Quetzalcoatl is a Mesoamerican god whose name means "feathered serpent." He essentially has a dark twin brother named Tezcatlipoca, who is a deceitful sorcerer. Since this was a collage animation, I just cut their images straight from pictures and placed them in the environment. I also learned how to use some effect modules for the first time! Look for the Colour Scale fire when they're about to have their showdown!
EDIT: Props to Kaitlyn Chandler for making the music. It fit too perfectly!
