btw i actually really like the changes of Meryl's wish to the Plants in the dub versus the sub

In the sub, Meryl mostly talks about how humanity needs the Plants' help once again, but the small line here kinda bothered me

mostly because the Plants HAVE been helping humanity for so long, so this is like the hundredth "just this once, help us" that they've probably experienced.

In contrast, the dub also has Meryl asking for the Plants' help, but she reinforces this by acknowledging their pain and loneliness, and mentions that humans can and should do better for the Plants. Her line "Help us to save you!" emphasizes that Knives is dragging all the Plants to their doom with his Genesis plan, and that by helping the surviving humans, the Plants can survive alongside them instead of dying with Knives.

What's very important is that dub Meryl says that there are humans who are sorry about the treatment of the Plants, and I really like this additional line

Because yeah, a big theme in Trigun Stargaze is about mercy and forgiveness. Members of the Gung-Ho Guns have received second chances through Vash's kindness. Antagonists that have caused suffering got the chance to amend and help people, we saw that with Leonof, Midvalley, Livio, and Elendira who used to terrorize people and work for Knives, but now they help Vash and his friends. In this way, we get to see how this redemption is extended to ALL of humanity. Many humans have caused pain for the Plants, but they have the opportunity to be better and do better. As long as there are empathetic humans, there is a chance for both species to live together peacefully instead of causing each others' extinctions.

(Another interesting thing to note is how both Leonof and Midvalley were both very lonely and projected their pain into hurting other people for Knives, with the promise of being rewarded for their loyalty. Leonof often drove off other people with his way of storytelling and Midvalley's band got killed, leaving both very isolated until Knives comes along and has them work for him. Humans and Plants like Knives cause harm when isolated because both are social creatures that crave companionship, and in the presence of good company (Vash) can do good things for others.)

was watching the dub of the anime "You and I are Polar Opposites" and one of the characters literally says the line "what in the "heart eyes howell" is this?!"

since the dub is absolutely stuffed with internet slang I'm trying to figure out if this is a legit saying I'm only just now finding out about or if they literally put a dan and phil reference into the dialogue😭

i LOVE italian voice acting, one of my most beloved interests. and some of my favorite things to do is watching how famous and meme-worthy clips from medias are dubbed in italy.

i was watching Devilman OVAs and turns out that they made that scene even gayer:

"Ryo!"

"Ciao, Akira." ("Hello, Akira.")

"... stai bene, menomale, mi sentivo in colpa." ("you're fine, thank goodness, i felt guilty.")

the stuttering, the way Akira quickly brushed it off and saying "he felt guilty"😭😭 it's so funny for no reason
