I honestly don't know who to ship Ash with anymore. So, I was hoping to figure out why people like this ship so much. What makes Pearlshipping "better" than the others?
First of all, no ship is “better” then another, everyone has their tastes, likes, dislikes, etc and no one ship preference is objectively “better” then another, it’s all subjective. Moving on.
I guess my love for Pearlshipping is not for a single reason but many..Im not gonna go in any specific method with explaining this, ill just do it o natural.
I guess one of the first things that appealed to me about it was as early as the first episodes where Dawn saw that Pikachu was in danger and took no hesitation in rescuing it and finding it’s trainer, even AFTER wrecking her bike (she doesnt even bring it up until like 20-30 episodes later and tells Ash not to worry about it), I know pretty much all the Pokegirls wouldnt hesitate to rescues Ash’s Pikachu but seeing how determined she was really heartwarming, she was even willing to miss her FIRST contest if it meant reuniting Pikachu with Ash. And when Dawn DID meet Ash, she didnt form an excuse to traveling with him, or had some ulterior motive, she came along with him and Brock because she just wanted to have some friends to travel which, I love her straightforwardness.
After she joined up I can pretty much go through why I love these two pretty quickly, for starters the both of them were SUPER invested into EACH OTHER’S goals and journeys, ever win or loss for one was felt in turn by the other. Again I know Ash had grown to get pretty supportive of May’s Contests but that felt a bit more one sided and not as involved (the figths over wether to go to a Gym or Contest first is also of note). With Dawn and Ash the both of them were perfectly willing to make the sacrifices necessary to help out whoever needed to gt where they needed to go first. And when they got there they gave their full support, they Ash didnt treat Contest much as a hinderance he did before and the same goes to Dawn, they both got into it and they both fully support one another. I dont think I have to mention how Dawn wore a cheerleader outfit three separate occasions just to cheer Ash on at his Gyms, that tells me she’s willing to go the extra mile just to back him up and that’s great!
