I had high high high expectations going into this show. The hype was just so much. So like when I found out it was only six episodes I was confused. Then I did some research, and there were two other seasons that were created like years after the original. I debated watching them too, but I honestly didn’t feel like they were a part of the original hype, so stuck with the first season. Also, I’m too lazy.
I loved the animation. It was soooooo cool to watch and didn’t feel like I was watching a 2000s anime. I loved the manga panels that were included in it. The animation was just so unique and cool. That paired with the soundtrack made this anime just mind-blowing.
This show was so much fun to watch. I really liked the storyline and all the characters and just everything about it. I was confused the entire time and am still not entirely sure what Fooly Cooly means, but that honestly doesn’t matter. For a six-episode show, the plot was incredibly well-paced. It didn’t feel rushed at the end, and I felt satisfied with the ending. I’ve been watching a lot of short anime because time is not on my side as a college student. They are easy to get through in a night, so they are perfect for weekends. However, their length is also their downfall. A lot of the times twelve-episode anime can’t even approach the level of plot development that was in this show that is half the length. I was just so surprised. The show exceeded my expectations.
I’m not sure what I watched, but after reading some comments, I think I’m going to have to rewatch it to better understand it. But I genuinely don’t care that I didn’t understand. I think a lot of what the show was about was growing up and how you get caught in the changes that come and you kinda just gotta go with it. I’m really bad at putting the meaning of stuff into actual words, so I’m doing a terrible job explaining it. But I think this anime had a lot more depth than it initially seems. I’m looking forward to watching it again!
