I’m surprised she deleted anything. Dollylux has the biggest dick energy I’ve personally seen in a fanfic author. It’s possible that the fic is still available on one of her other platforms. If I find it, I’ll link back to it.
Listen, the popular anti rhetoric is a pretty reasonable symptom of where United States is at right now. I can’t speak for other countries, but here, we’ve got a really bad mix of 8 in 10 people who believe in angels, a failing for-profit education system (example: people who are too dumb to read and understand even the most basic Wiki article on pedophilia), a whole bucketload of social issues, and a really nasty combo of individualism, exceptionalism, with some rising nazism in the mix. The last time an entire country mistook nationalism for patriotism isn’t even half a century behind us, but we’re getting there again in a hurry.
We’re entering another dark age as far as arts are concerned, and fanfic isn’t alone in in this predicament. Recent tumblr development is also a symptom of the larger mess, and a nice example why capitalism can’t be healthy in a nation where six million people think certain fiction is wrong, but repeatedly persecuting vulnerable minorities is just fine. This shit show will spread to published books (as it already has to textbooks in certain states), art, music, and then every other form of artistic expression.
Save your fave fics to your e-readers as pdfs, save the fan art, save everything you can get your hands on. If the time comes to start burying books in your back yard, do that to.
But never doubt the fact that any form of fictional artistic expression you choose to enjoy or create is beyond reproach. That those who believe fictional works should have a common morality have been overruled over and over again, across centuries of human existence, and eventually will be overruled again.
It might take a while, and some of us will doubtlessly get trampled in the process, but in the end, the morality police has never been on the right side of the history.
