Countdown to ANLoLversary

As of June 1st this year, “A New Lease on Life” will be three years old. Yep, the first chapter was posted on June 1st, 2016, and it’s still going strong! This story has survived countless crises, the deaths of two loved ones back-to-back, and more drama than I really feel like rehashing...and it’s still going strong. (...if...a little slow.)

In celebration, I’m filling @get-a-new-lease-on-life‘s cue with little tidbits related to the story and its characters. Facts you didn’t know about the characters, the storyline, and the process, occasional minor spoilers, artwork, music, and more. Every day, you’ll get a new post counting down to the third ANLoLversary on June 1st.

I’d like to take a moment to thank my wonderful readers for keeping this story going through thick and thin, @supernovawolf88 for being such a wonderful beta and friend, @ihlni686-and-rps for being a great friend and geeking out with me about the characters, and last but not least, my hubby Cold...for not looking at the screen when I tell him “Leave me alone, I’m writing porn.”

HAPPY ANLoLVERSARY!

YEP! Three years ago today, I posted the first chapter of A New Lease on Life on FFN and whaddaya know? It’s still going strong (coughSLOWcouch) at 60+ chapters! I really wanted to have a new chapter for ya’ll to celebrate but...yeah, I got nothin yet. Hopefully I’ll have time and ability later on in the week. In the meantime, THREE MAMA-FARKIN’ YEARS, BABY! And it’s STILL GROWING! And...Donnie...still...hasn’t...gotten laid. Ahem. Working on that.

So, aside from that, our internet signal has been crapping out several times an hour (maybe why the queue’s been acting up?) so there may be a post or two after this one. Just consider them a bonus.

Now, if y’all will excuse me, the writer has a semi-soft surface to faceplant on and needs to spend the next several hours snoring the intro to “Crazy Train.” Happy Summer, Folks, and as always, thanks for reading and I hope to hear from y’all soon!

Couple Dynamics: Mikey and Bree

Tagline: The heart and his home. Mikey's the heart of his family, but home isn't always a place…in his case, it's a person. It doesn't hurt that Bree is "built like a brick house."

Carrying style: Name a position, Mikey's tried it. Sometimes it works – like Bree sitting on one shoulder and brain-dusting him – and sometimes it doesn't – like that one time he tried to carry her tucked to his side like a quarterback carrying a football and nearly cracked one of her ribs AND face-planted when she shrieked. Most often, Bree ends up sitting on his shoulders or hunched on his carapace complaining about feeling like a preschooler getting a piggyback ride. (Don't listen, she loves it.)

Favorite positions: His: on his knees with Bree in his lap, both sitting upright. This position leaves all his favorite skin open for worship, and it makes Bree particularly vocal and needy…especially when he encourages her to arch her back. Hello, Heaven! Hers: She's got two favorites. First, pinned to a wall, especially in the shower; it puts Mikey's incredible strength on display which melts her into goo. Her second favorite, though she'd never admit it, is the good old classic missionary. More often than not, she's content to just be with him without attempting acrobatics.

PDA: These two are…actually surprisingly innocent with their PDA. Sure, there's a lot of impromptu smooches, loads of hugs, and a LOT of touchy-feely stuff, but nothing overly sexual unless they're supposedly alone. Lots of foot-rubs and cuddling (sometimes piled-cuddling and falling asleep on each other) but that's the worst…unless Mikey succumbs to the call of the booty. These two are sort of a balance between Mercy/Raph and Amber/Donnie in PDA, and actually come across more like best friends at times.

Couple Dynamics: Leo and Beverly

Tagline: The blind spots. Leo grew so accustomed to accommodating for Beverly's left-field blindness that he never realized when they became each other's emotional blind spots.

Carrying style: Beverly is Leo's princess; nothing less worshipful than bridal-style works for him. Being carried around tends to annoy Bev to an extent, but when she's feeling rough, it also comforts her. She's the most valuable woman in the world to him, and he treats her with every ounce of care and caution possible. (She mostly puts up with it then chews him out if he goes too far.)

Favorite positions: His: just about anything that puts Bev on top. As much time as he spends in charge, it's nice to kick back and just leave everything in someone else's control once in a while, and when it comes to her, he's more than happy to relinquish control...at least temporarily. Her: Bev gets tired of topping pretty easily (well, tired in general TBH, she's never going to be quite as strong as she used to be) so she much prefers being able to 'take it lying down.' Her favorite so far has both lying on their sides front-to-back, legs tangled, and Leo torturing her neck, but tantric-missionary is growing on her.

PDA: You actually wouldn't recognize most of this couple's PDA unless you looked hard; they get more out of it by letting their feelings simmer under the surface. Lots of silent communication with their eyes, secret smiles, and non-contact gestures – like Beverly sweeping her hair off her neck and Leo slowly raking his eyes from head-to-toe and back again. If she's had a particularly rough day, he quickly breaks the no-contact trend for a foot, shoulder, neck, or backrub, or a steadying hand on her shoulder or knee. If they're alone but liable to be interrupted, you'll finally see some physical contact. For Leo that generally means nuzzles and mouthing at her neck and shoulder, sniffing and playing with her hair along the way. Bev's a little more trusting of herself (and less concerned with possibly pushing Leo too far.) Gentle touches to his face, plastron, shoulders, arms, and just about anything else she can reach are common, particularly places where he's visibly inhuman. She's particularly fond of     running her fingertips over the calluses on his hands and putting on as though it doesn't put her halfway to dripping.

Couple Dynamics: Raph and Mercy

Tagline: The blonde and the beefcake. These two…golly, just where to begin? It just fits.

Carrying style: Raph doesn't carry Mercy around often because he worries he'll drop her; when he does, he usually props her butt on his arm, leans her against his shoulder, and tucks her into his neck. Mercy isn't so worried about being dropped. She's entirely willing to hang from his neck or shoulders ike a monkey in an attempt to embarrass him.

Favorite positions: His: on her knees, ass in the air; he just can't get enough of Mercy's distracting derriere. Hers: power-trippin’ cowgirl. The angle gets intense and she's got him completely at her mercy, so win-win!

PDA: Geez, what will these two NOT do? Most common PDA occurs as a direct attempt to make the others uncomfortable. Frequent offenses include tonsil-hockey, groping, necking, and butt-grabs. (Yes, BOTH OF THEM have grabby-hands; Raph has a nice butt.) When they don't realize anyone's watching, the PDA is sweet instead of sexual, and it's more meaningful to them both. Forehead-touching,  cheek-brushing, and the occasional bicep squeeze and face petting are all genuine PDA practices.

Couple Dynamics: Donnie and Amber

Tagline: The nerds in love. Sure, she's actually more of a dork than a nerd, but the name stuck the first time Raph sniped it at them.

His carrying style: Amber thrown over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, or over his shoulders in a fireman's carry. This playful carrying generally results in Amber cracking up, the others face-palming in secondhand embarrassment,  and maybe a teasing butt pat from Donnie. These two are…a little odd.

Favorite positions: His: just about any position that lets him go down on her; he just can't get enough of how easy it is to make her fall apart. He's particularly fond of spreading her out across the nearest surface (desk, bed, table, etc) and diving in, and the good ol' head-to-feet give and take position. Hers: pinned on her back, his hands on her shoulders and his arms underneath, bodies completely entangled with no space between their bodies; it makes her feel indescribably safe and breathless, sometimes enough to make her cry.

PDA: Amber sitting in his lap for movies, hair-nuzzles, pecks on the cheek, LOTS of hugs. If he's feeling bold, he'll nip and nuzzle her neck,     maybe  from behind. Her bold moves? Grabbing his butt without warning – she loves the way he jumps and yelps when he's not expecting it –     and more commonly, teasing him followed by being sweet. He seems to enjoy being kept on his toes.
