Loveš©
Franchaela fandom needs to watch Gentleman Jack NOW. Iām seeing people say S5 will be the first WLW period piece show and Iād like to introduce you to more!!!
Gentleman Jack is based on Anne Lister, a real person who lived in England from 1791 to 1840. The show is based on her diaries, where she documents her love affairs with other women (technically she was a bit of a rake) and her love story with Ann Walker, who she eventually married.
Gorgeous, accurate 1830s costumes
Clever script
Great actors
Romance
Drama/scandal
Smut
Two seasons of lesbians, as the leads of the show, and not the side plot
Full disclosureā Iām a straight woman, I watched GJ for the clothes, because the 1830s never have good costume drama adaptations. IMHO it was entertaining and the lead actress Suranne Jones has a ton of charisma and charm, with a really attractive cast and good storytelling. Itās missing the racial diversity of Bridgerton, because it just follows the races of the real people in her diary, but otherwise itās a great option while you wait.
