Anna Mani's absolutely god-tier career & work really makes sense when you find out that in her early career: "she authored five research papers and submitted her Ph.D. dissertation, but she was not granted a Ph.D. because she did not have a master's degree in physics."

that would have pissed me off like nothing else. and then she standardized + published drawings for 100+ meteorological instruments. And then went on to basically run all of India's meteorlogy.
