☢ Anna
something about my character that i've never explored but want to: her issues with being adopted
anna + leaves
when she and john were kids, their favorite thing to do in the fall was play in the yard whilst their dad raked up all the leaves, and then they'd take turns jumping into the leaf piles, and she'd have leaves in her hair for the rest of the day. at the end of the day, some neighbors would come over and they'd burn the leaves and twigs and things, and they'd cook s'mores over the fire and she'd fall asleep in her dad's lap. and that's one of her favorite childhood memories.
anna + home
anna pushed the front door of her shared apartment open, locked it behind her when she was safely in. she glanced around, rolling her eyes when she spotted an empty pizza box on the coffee table in front of the tv. she set her purse down on the couch, grabbed the box, stuffed it in the trash. anna flipped off the kitchen lights as she padded tiredly down the hallway, and she kicked her heels off outside the bathroom, sighing heavily.
she didn't even have to look to know where things were -- rhodes didn't move anna's things, though she always moved his, whether it be to make room for more of hers or simply to move his things. she found her purple toothbrush, brushed her teeth with her eyes closed, and grabbed a wipe to clean her face of makeup. when she finished, she flipped off the light and made her way down the hall to rhodes's bedroom. why she'd never just slept in the second bedroom in his apartment, anna honestly didn't know, but it rarely even registered as an option. she almost always even forgot it was there.
anna changed into her pajamas, which were exactly where she'd left them, and then lifted the comforter and slid under the sheets, wrapping her arms around rhodes and pulling herself close to his body. "sorry," she whispered as rhodes shifted and she settled into the mattress, feeling safe and warm, just like always. "i'm home. you said to wake you up when i got home."
anna + nail varnish
IT'S RAINING MEN
that was the joke in the anna mix for jenny that i ended up taking out because no one got it.
her favorite color nail polish is it's raining men. she's been buying it since she was a teenager. she loves it. it's like a deep red. it's her favorite nail polish.
Cassandra tried to smile enthusiastically as Anna pointed out more jewellery in a shop window, but it came out as more of a grimace. John's sister was lovely and she did enjoy talking with her, but shopping with her was another thing entirely. "Anna, darling, look," She said gently. "Shopping really isn't my thing and I'm absolutely hopeless at it. So, how about you find the stuff you need then meet me at Cafe Boulud - lunch is on me and you can show me all the pretty things you've bought."
Anna didn't miss the grimace that passed over Cassandra's face when she pointed to a glittery diamond necklace in the window of yet another high-end jewelry shop, and she giggled slightly at how pained her brother's girlfriend looked. It was odd for her, seeing how absolutely uninterested the other woman was in sparkly things, and she'd remembered how Cassandra had remarked that Anna's diamond engagement ring was slightly larger than she would prefer if it were her own (Anna had notified John of that, nudged him, and laughed when he'd blushed furiously and insisted he wasn't even thinking about proposing to Cassandra. "We've only been dating for, like, two years!").
"I swear this is the last thing, Cassandra. If I got any more jewelry, I wouldn't even be able to make it down the aisle, okay? I'd be too weighted down. Just come with me to get this last thing. Plus, John wants us to do more bonding or whatever before the wedding." Then, with a devious grin, Anna flicked her red curls over her shoulder and added, "Though I'm sure there's another wedding in the works here soon for this family, huh?"
