I am terrible for tearing inspirational things out of magazines. In my case, it's rarely a beautiful bodied man (although, I did have Ben Foden stuck to my wall for a while... Unfortunately, not quite literally.. *sigh*) Anyway, it's normally images that I wish to aspire to photograph in the style-of. I would definitely say seventy-five percent of the images have a subtle pastel hue and imitate scenes of romance, royalty and couture. Visually beautiful images. Thank goodness for Instagram, eh?
Within the article above Ann Friedman expresses the need for 'likes' and the satisfaction we gain from it. As a grown-up, young lady I know that I currently have 429 followers on Instagram... I found out the other day someone had 'un-liked' me... A wave of disappointment flowed through me. Not gonna lie. Or as the kids say these days... NGL. (I do not doubt that they hashtag that as well). I am sure there was a reasonable explanation for the disappearance of a fan... Their phone got stolen? They had given up Instagram for lent?! Whatever it was, I did take it a little personally. I have got over it now... Thank fully.
On the positive side, it is almost like having an open journal. You are able to warp and morph the way you want others to perceive your life. Just a photo of you and your beau in front of the mirror with a 'Walden' filter over the top makes you look/feel like Orlando and Kiera. You want others to look on and almost be envious of your, so-called, perfection. It will be interesting to see how long the dreaminess style of photography stays 'in'. What would be next?
