Disappointments! (all purchased prior to my plastic embargo, but still trash all the same!)
1. Annie Chun’s Pad Thai Rice Noodles
Dang you, noodles! Ok, so you come in a pressed cardboard box. That’s sort of ok. But you then wrap the noodles that are inside that box in plastic, and also include a little acetate looking window so we can see those noodles (through two layers of plastic!)
I sent an email to the company to see if the packaging is recyclable and to ask why they insist on this double layer of plastic. I await their response!
2. Aldi Cabbage (wrapped in plastic)
I hate this. I hate that stores put veggies in plastic. I know, I know, reasons cited are often “hygiene” and “contamination.” But who goes home and doesn’t wash their food before they eat it? If you’re doing that, get it together! I also sent Aldi an email asking if they would consider reducing their plastic use or finding a plastic free alternative. Commence 40 days of emails to Aldi.
3. Pringles Cap
After a great weekend of best friend Christmas/Birthday celebrations, I was left with some really great snacks. Snacks that maybe I shouldn’t eat, but snacks all the same! Even though I didn’t buy these, I’m including the plastic portion in my bag of shame.
