a door lock turning, the quiet ache of wood beneath her feet, there is such silence in her fear ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ... ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ such silence that everything feels so loud, even his voice. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ it reached through the waves of her rage, her hate, her love, the complex whirlwind of thoughts that stirred within her. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ gale is always good at giving them space, when it was needed, when it felt right ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ – ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ and even better, he knows when to break it, he knows when the time is right. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ they can feel each other even at a distance.

❝ weeell - ❞ the word is elongated on her tongue, ended with a grunt as a staff strikes her in the chest. body rockets backwards, hitting a lump of rock that leaves her momentarily winded. a gruff laugh leaves from tusked lips, hovering above her. the staff is lifted to strike again, only to be caught in the hold of throned vines. a green glow emits from keyleth's hands, chest heaving as she makes her escape from her attacker to join vax's side once again. ❝ as i was saying - good timing has never really been our thing. ❞

a blush blooms across pale cheeks. a hand forcing out a blast of elemental energy to keep their attackers at bay so she can reward her champion with a kiss. ❝ i love you too, vax. ❞ like the wind he's gone. nothing but a blur of black cloak as blades meet their mark. keyleth joins in his dance, air, fire, and earth flowing in harmony to reward them a win. soon they stand amongst the littered bodies of their foes, pools of red staining their clothes. ❝ it's just that once i finish the trails of the water ashari my aramenté will be over. i want you to come home with me. ❞

she can't help but notice how beautiful he is. they stand on the doorstep of what was once his cage, now a home for misfit spawn. the sun beating down on the rooftops of baldur's gate, highlighting the streaks of red mixed within silver strands. darcie can't imagine how they must look, beaten and bloodied. at least, she muses with the hint of a smile, it's not their blood. the other members of their group start the decent back into the heart of the city, either not paying them any mind or allowing them some space. she's grateful either way.

she takes his hand first, demanding his attention. the kiss she places on his lips is gentle. everything she feels poured into this one simple action; pride, admiration, love. they still have so much to, so many battles to fight, but now astarion gets to do them as a free man. ❝ you're nothing like i ever expected, you know. ❞ proof that people - vampires - can change. well, some of them, anyway. and, god, if the darcie of a few weeks ago heard her think such a thing, she would surely think she had gone mad. ❝ come on, i think we could both do with a hot bath. ❞

feet drag against the linoleum flooring. the harsh hospital lights causing eyes to squint slightly, a headache brewing somewhere in the back of her skull. belinda had long last track of how many hours she'd been within this building. can't remember the last time she got more than 20 minutes of a nap. it had been all hands on deck. another emergency striking the heart of los angeles. a deep breath fills her lungs, the expected sigh stopping at her lips when she catches slight of him. buck. who had been right in the heart of it, who had still made time to pick her up from work.

❝ oh - ❞ eyelids flicker as his fingers graze her cheek, flicking away a fleck of dust. everything feels weak, like she might just melt into a puddle, as her body relaxes in the mere presence of someone safe. as if nothing can touch her now. buck's rewarded with a kiss, a soft peck against his lips, as she leads him out towards the parking lot. ❝ i can't believe you're here. you must be exhausted. ❞

head turns, but she knows the voice. daphne's become quite well acquainted with its owner. it brings a smile to painted lips. and there conrad stands, looking somehow more handsome under blue sky and bright sun. ❝ is that your way of offering to show me around? ❞ daphne pulls down the purple glasses covering her eyes, which squint slightly against the sun. cousins certainly isn't crystal cove. it's more . . beachier. she can see why he likes it so much.

❝ hello to you, too. ❞ he's rewarded with a kiss to the cheek, tucking her perfectly manicured nails into the crook of his elbow. ❝ mommy and daddy almost pitched a fit when i told them i was spending the summer at your beach house instead of theirs. ❞ head shakes, eyes rolling slightly. honestly, it was like she had told them she was spending christmas skiing in canada instead of the alps. so dramatic. ❝ as if they aren't just a few hours up the road. honestly! ❞

applause erupts around them. the audience are on their feet, whooping and cheering, as the wildcats take their final bows. the last some of them will take, gina now amongst them. she had been lucky to get away with tricking quinn into filming romeo and juliet in salt lake, but she wasn't so lucky the second time around. it's okay, gina tells herself as she catches the eye of her friends, because at least they have tonight. gaze lands on ricky, her eric, and there's no stopping the tear that carves a path down her cheek. he'll be graduating soon, and she'll be in the stands cheering as loud as possible, and then what? she's not sure, but she knows they'll be okay.

neither of them initiate the kiss. it's like they're two magnets being pulled together, two jigsaw pieces finding their missing part. the cheering around them grows which only brings forth a soft laugh from gina's lips. to the audience it must seem like part of the show, the newly married ariel and eric sharing one last kiss, but their cast mates must know it's more then that. ❝ come with me. ❞ she breathes against his lips. the question she's been meaning to ask all day, since that fateful phone call with her brother. ❝ to la for the summer. they have some pick ups to do for the film and my brother's agreed to let me stay with him so my mom doesn't have to take time off work. ❞ a pause. her smile never falters, but nerves flutter in the pit of her stomach. ❝ you should come with me, ricky. ❞

deep breath in, deep breath out. in a span of a week she's come so far. across country, with new travel documents in hand, and now about to leave home soil for the first time in - well, her whole life. and it hasn't exactly been a smooth journey, with the henchmen her mother sent causing the train they'd been travelling in to crash. it had taken some time for flynn to calm her down from that. to stop rapunzel from thinking of the people who would get in trouble, or who were hurt, because of the carriage that landed in the bottom of a ravine.

could she really do this? travel across the ocean and pretend she's some lost princess? her mother would laugh. with her long hair, littered with split ends, and knobbly knees rapunzel hardly looks the part. except flynn seems to think she does and, somehow, that means the most.

he knows exactly what to say. anxious gaze meets his and suddenly her whole body relaxes. shoulders drop, heartbeat returns to normal, as timid hand reaches out for his. a comforting gesture as rapunzel takes her first steps onto the boat that will carry her away from the only home she's ever known. ❝ it's only water, right? it's not that scary. ❞ rapunzel paints a smile on her lips. at least there's no sign of the twins her mother had sent after them and with flynn at her side she'll be safe. ❝ so, are we continuing my lessons? i, um, i don't think i quite pass for a - ❞ gaze darts to each side before meeting his again, voice dropping to a whisper. ❝ - princess yet. ❞
