People need to understand that when fans say they are fed up of seeing Leon written 'out of character' it's nothing to do with people writing him in scenarios we've never see him in. THAT'S FAN FIC, BABE! All we can do is write him how best we feel he'd act in those situations BASED ON consideration for the characterization/canon we see in the games and movies. What people mean when they say Leon (and other male characters) are being written OOC is when fans write shit that's absolutely contrary to his characterization and show they don't even know him and haven't taken any time to try. Examples: Leon -- a succinct man who does not ever really monolog in anything he's in-- being written as having verbal diarrhoea in the middle of sex! Leon -- who canonically shoots his shot with multiple women in almost every iteration of himself -- being written borderline virginal/as a man who's never had casual sex or flings/fwb situations. Leon -- who is canonically very respectful of women-- being written as a man who's into choking, and spitting in the mouths of women or worse with ddlg/incest kinks. A lot of these type fics feature heavy abusive undertones, including financial abuse (which he is the victim of). Leon --who is very stoic and professional-- becoming a complete manchildsimp for a girlfriend who is half his age and parading her around his workplace like he's proud of robbing the cradle and like no one would judge the shit out of him for it. He canonically goes for women his own age, give or take a few years -- not generational age gaps as fics have a hard on for!!!! NONE OF THIS WRITING FITS HIS CHARACTER or represents his canon correctly! It's not about the scenes or the plot he's put in, it's about how the fundamentals of writing him as a human get so fucked up in the name of being "hot" for smut fics or some bizarre wish fulfilment for girls (largely young and inexperienced and grossly mislead by fiction) who think it's sexy for a man to treat them like shit or trip over his dick for them. It's not Leon they're writing, it's just a glorified face claim!
