Ok so I feel kinda stupid asking this, but is Akane related to Shinobu in any way? (Because they share a last name, but I didn't see any mentions of it on my quick scroll of your blog)
[MOD]: Don't feel stupid! I see how it can be confusing, granted Akane looks quite similar to Shinobu. However, the two are not related! Akane isn't even human! Her name is The Red Monarch and she comes from a heavenly race of energy manifestations called Luminaries that are responsible for cleaning the Earth and keeping it a safe, non-toxic environment for everything that lives there. Frequently, these Luminaries are sent from the heavens to fulfill that duty! The Red Monarch was chosen, and she was given her human vessel as Akane! She was found in the forest by the two traveling Kochou siblings (Kanae and Shinobu) and Kanae, with her warm heart, brought Akane home and announced she was family.
Unlike Kanao (who, in my AU, comes into the story after Akane does), Akane decided to take the girls' last name so she could fit in, yet she always carried a strong sense of unbelonging, given Shinobu was not that nice to her when she was younger. So Kanae cut her hair and styled it similar to her own so Akane could feel apart of the family. The strong resemblance is actually a testament to their strong sisterhood! Kanae even went as far as to sew a new haori for her new younger sister and it was very appreciated.
Usually, Akane is a quieter, more reserved person, similar to Kanao. But as the Kochou girls taught her more mannerisms, she became an open-book extrovert! alive!Kanae is very proud of her and Shinobu treats her like she's her biological sister!
