29. “I thought you were dead.” for kurokura please
Kind of a Mafia AU, and I honestly had no idea how I was starting this off, but it seems to have come together pretty well I think. :D
Chrollo was suddenly filled with unmeasurable amounts of dread. He didn’t know if he was breathing at this point, and maybe it was best if he didn’t, it was kind of… comfortable. He could feel his senses go numb and really, it shouldn’t end here. He had too much to live for, too much do, but as he watched with now bleary vision as he tumbled forward to the ground in slow motion, nothing to stop or buffer his fall, he thought that if this really was death, then it wasn’t as bad as everyone else had told him it would be.
He was floating now, he had never really hit the floor, right? He couldn’t move, but that was okay, there was no need to. He was at the market, watching the vendors call out their wares, consumers haggling prices lower and lower till they were satisfied or they simply refused the good. Children ran around, their sticks were swords and their bandanas were capes. He found himself smiling at the old scene, one from his childhood. Then he heard his name. He wanted to respond, wanted to turn toward the voice, but couldn’t.
He struggled to find footing now, as he was falling and suddenly, this wasn’t fun any more. He kept hearing his name but was unable to reciprocate at all. He heard panic and worry ingrained in the voice that kept calling his name, and instead of falling, he began to rise. Rapidly. He blinked, and all of a sudden, there was a bright light. He quickly shut his eyes, attempting to squint at the figure hovering above him. He felt something dab at his cheek, sporadically and in no pattern. Suddenly he was wrapped in a tight embrace, his hearing finally returning as he heard what was murmured in his ear.
“Oh thank god, oh thank god. I thought you were dead.”
Regaining control of some of his limbs, he sat back slightly, a smirk tugging at his lips as he brought up a hand to caress the crying face. “You don’t think I’d actually leave you so soon, Kurapika?”
The blonde warmly smiled at him, holding his hand to his face and nuzzling into it. “Hm, if you keep acting as reckless as you do, you might do so on accident.”
“I am anything but reckless,” Chrollo scoffed, watching as dimples appeared on his lover’s face from the smile he was radiating.
“Says the one who drank a stranger’s coffee without checking for poison.” Chrollo paused, seeing where his amusement came from and grinned back, resting his forehead against the blonde’s.
“Okay, so maybe you’re a little right.” Kurapika hummed in agreement, and really, he could’ve stayed like that for the rest of his life, but he had no chance at that when he heard someone clear their throat.
“Good to have you back,” Feitan began, his cheeks tinted a light pink from their displays of affection, “but, since their faction has basically declared war on us by poisoning you, when will we eliminate them?”
“Always right to the chase huh?” Chrollo steadied himself on Kurapika’s shoulder as he got up. “Get Pakunoda and Shalnark, we’ll have a strategy meeting in twenty.”
“Thirty,” Kurapika said from his side.
“Forty-five,” Feitan countered. The blonde nodded and the smaller man departed the room without another word.
“You need to rest,” his lover explained as he nudged him towards a bed.
“Wasn’t that what I was doing?”
“That was passed out, it’s not the same,” the blonde chuckled. “Now, good night Chrollo.”
“Good night, Kurapika.” He replied before dropping down into the bed. He drifted off faster than he thought he would, and the last thing he felt was a soft kiss to his forehead before his eyes fluttered shut and he departed to the dream realm.
I’ve really been feeling the AUs lately, so how about some time in college?
Machi shook her head, once again unsatisfied.
“Nope, take it off.”
“But…” Shizuku protested, tugging at her sleeves, “it’s comfortable.”
“You heard me. Take. It. Off. You are not going to a nightclub dressed like a couch potato.”
“It’s freezing out, I’m sure people will understand if she wears a baggy sweater.” Bonolenov commented, bundled in a jacket himself.
“No, that will not do at all. We’re going to have fun and you’re not going to be able to do that in that outfit or…” Machi glances over at the rest of the eighth spider’s wardrobe, “any of those really. I’ll find you something, now come along.” Before Shizuku could protest, she had already grabbed her wrist and was dragging her to her own bedroom to find something that didn’t make it look like they were near broke college students.
Menthuthuyoupi sighs loudly, turning on his much more petite companion.
“Would you stop?”
“Stop what?” The blonde asks, feigning innocence as he smiles up at him.
“I’ve seen the way you look at me when you think I don’t notice, and I want you to stop.”
“Honestly, I have no clue what you’re talking about. You should elaborate.” He turned away, going back to turning his instrument.
“You think that all percussionists are people who just bang on our instruments and hope for the right pitch to come out.”
“They are,” Shaiapouf mutters as the tall man continues, obviously pissed at the comment.
“And you think you’re all high and mighty just because you play the violin.”
At that the blonde turns, his eyebrows drawn together and a scowl on his face. “It’s a viola.”
“Eh, they all look the same to me.”
Shaiapouf’s face goes red with anger as he picks up his music and leaves the room, knocking over a stand as he leaves. Menthuthuyoupi just shakes his head, returning to his usual practice before the blonde had so very rudely interrupted him.
Omgosh I might have got carried away with this because it’s super long and it’s why I haven’t gotten to the other requests and I’m so sorry guys. Enjoy!
Gon had come back home and Mito couldn’t be happier. It had taken him a few days, but he eventually returned to being as smiley as ever. She knew he was hurting, so she always took care not to bring up things like Killua’s whereabouts and what he did while he was gone unless he brought it up first. Eventually he went back to exploring the island on a daily basis, not that he didn’t already know the place like the back of his hand, but she supposed it was out of nostalgia that he went.
One day while he was out, his phone, which he frequently left behind began to ring. Mito, not sure who it could be, picked it up merely out of curiosity.
“Hello?”
“Oh!” The voice on the other line sounded a bit surprised, the static crackling a bit before it went on. “Um, is Gon there?”
“I’m afraid Gon is out and about on the island right now. If I may so much as inquire, who are you?” The other line was silent for a while, before they responded with a chuckle.
“Well, I’m Wing, I was Gon’s Nen instructor, well, still am if he’s willing to still be my student, which was why I called. Last I saw him he was knocked out pretty bad so I couldn’t ask, well that and I also wanted to make sure he was doing better, but it sounds like he’s recovered just fine.” He chuckled once again, and it was a gesture that was becoming quite endearing to Mito. “Now, might I know who I’m speaking to?”
“Of course,” Mito smiled into the phone as she leaned against the counter. “I’m Mito, his aunt.”
The man on the other end spluttered a bit, but quickly regained his bearings. “Ah, I see, that would make sense. Well then Ms. Mito, could you pass along my message to him?”
“Yes I will, and just Mito is fine.” She paused as an idea came to her head, “actually, why don’t you come here?”
“What?”
“I’m sure Gon would appreciate seeing his teacher again, and you could also ask Gon in person. We don’t get very many visitors to Whale Island, so he’ll be thrilled for sure.”
“Well alright, I haven’t had a vacation in a while. Oh, but do you mind if I bring one of my other students with me? He’s one of Gon’s friends as well, so maybe Gon can tour him around the island.”
“The more the merrier. Just say when you’ll be here and I’ll come get you guys at the docks.”
“Sounds good. Till then Mito.”
“Yes, till then.”
Mito sighed as she set the phone down. Hopefully this would do some good for Gon.
A week later, she got the date of their arrival, and on that particular day she made sure Gon stayed home to help clean around the house while she went to buy some groceries. As she made her way down to port, she kept an eye out for any new faces. She knew everyone on the island and the majority of the traders, so she’d be able to pick out anyone new to the area. After strolling through the port and gathering the goods she needed, she headed to the bay where she could see another boat arriving. She found herself giggling at the sight of Gon’s friends, one whom was wearing a gi and the other who was wearing a half tucked formal shirt. She approached them with a smile as she introduced herself. Having lead them to the house, she took a step back once inside and let Wing talk to Gon, who was more than enthusiastic at seeing him and Zushi again. After dinner, Gon invited Zushi to go see the island, as she had predicted, leaving her with Abe and Wing. Well, really just Wing since as soon as she was done with dishes Abe had left to go to bed. She stretched her arms as she entered the living room where Wing had picked up reading a book left on the tableside. He set it down when he noticed her presence, smiling warmly.
“Thank you again for letting us stay here.”
She laughed, “It’s no big deal really, Gon wouldn’t have it any other way.”
He glanced up at her, tilting his head a bit, “You really care about Gon don’t you?”
Mito nodded earnestly. “Yes, I like to think of him as my own son, oh, but I do wish he would stop being so reckless all the time, sometimes he just does things without thinking twice about them.”
“So is the usual nature of enhancers.”
“Enhancers?”
“It’s a term for what type of Nen he has.”
“I see…, if you don’t mind, do you think you could tell me a bit more about this Nen? Gon talks about it quite a bit, and both him and my cousin are hunters, but I’ve never got many details and well, Gon’s not exactly the easiest to learn from?”
“Yes, of course,” he chuckled and wow that sounds way better in person. She stopped her thoughts there until she heard the “but what do I get in return?” She couldn’t tell if he was joking at that point, and she started to panic. She didn’t have much to give but…
“Do you…well…I mean…I could give you a massage?”
He didn’t seem to be expecting an actual answer because his face flared up and he coughed into his hand to try to keep his emotions at bay.“I mean… that is if you want to I mean. I don’t really know what else I could give you in turn…it’s… just…” she tried to explain herself but just ended up falling silent as she covered her face with her hands and muttering “I’m sorry” to herself.
“Mito, I think that with you housing and feeding both myself and Zushi, this is but a small fee I can pay.”
“Really?”
“Really, I couldn’t ask anymore of you than what you’ve already given.”
Just for the record, my dearest Stevie… are you trying to kill me?
“Kiss me.”
“Excuse me?” Leorio whirls on the shorter man, who’s furiously blushing.
“I said kiss me.”
“And why exactly would I do that?”
Tonpa looked taken aback, but then nodded his head a bit. “I understand that this is weird coming from the man who tried to stop you during the Hunter exam, but I’ve changed, really. You’ve changed me.”
Leorio’s entire body was screaming at him to run and get the hell out of there. He hadn’t meant to bump into him at the station and he honestly doesn’t know why he had tolerated him so long and let him tag along for shopping, and now he regretted keeping his temper in place
“I’m sorry, I can’t do that.”
He felt a twang of guilt as Tonpa’s face dropped, but he would not let himself fall for this guy’s antics.
“Why… why is that?” The man muttered into his hands, making Leorio really want to get out of there now, but he stood his ground. Just now to find an excuse that wasn’t ‘I hate you and never wanted to see your guts again’ as a response.
“I’m… dating someone.”
“Oh?” Tonpa looked up, tilting his head out of curiosity, and Leorio really wanted to kick him.
“Uh, Melody… she’s a buddy of Kurapika’s. She’s a great flute player and really sweet.” He hoped that if asked, Melody would go along with it, because while she was really cute, there was no way he would inadvertently ask someone out like that, especially not her.
“I see…”
“Yes, so as you can see, I really must decline your offer, and with that, your company. Good day.” He turned around, and walked as quickly as he could without suspicion, his groceries would have to wait for another day. As he walked away, he dialed a number on his phone, looking back every so often to make sure he wasn’t being followed.
Kortopi, Franklin and Shizuku for "Teach me how to play?"
This went from fun to existential pretty quickly, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
Kortopi looked at Franklin, who looked back just as confused. They looked back at Shizuku, wanting to make sure they had heard correctly.
“Could you repeat that for us? Just one more time?”
Shizuku huffed, her hands on her hips. “Gosh, and you guys said that I’m the one with memory problems. Teach me how to play? Please?”
Franklin eyed Kortopi, who made noncommittal noises whilst shrugging, leaving the real decision up to him. He turned back to Shizuku, who seemed fairly eager to learn their new and improved version of Monopoly. Then he smiled, knowing exactly how to handle the situation.“Fine,” he started, glancing over at Kortopi at the next comment, “but you’ll have to be banker.” Kortopi whined as Shizuku excitedly nodded her head, taking up residence on a nearby stool.
“I never agreed to that,” the conjurer muttered as he turned to the board again.
Franklin smiled as Kortopi began explaining the rules to the wide-eyed Shizuku who was over the moon with the idea of there now being thieves who could corrupt entire colors into bankruptcy and how you could get robbed while on a railroad. If this is what is was like to have friends, then he really did not mind at all, even if they were squabbling over who got to be the thumbtack.
Im always looking forward to seeing my friends and stuff and if this question was referring to bands im going to go w any of the ones i blog about bc there are so many
