Ace x Riddle : Not So bad

For the Challenge Prompt: It's just us, everyone else is asleep

"Come on, don’t be like that," Ace laughs as he pulls Riddle out onto the balcony. "No one’s going to know."

Riddle’s protests die as they step out into the cool, night air. Brushing his hair back, Riddle glances at Ace, the other boy leaning against the railing. Their hands are still linked. "If any of them wake up…" Riddle doesn’t want to imagine the ribbing they’ll get. Especially from Floyd.

Ace sighs. "Would that be so bad?"

Riddle looks down at their hands yet again and then at Ace and that bright smile of his. "No, I suppose not."

Another First || Devyn/Cady, 11.30

Cady still wasn’t sure what to expect. The whole dating thing... she’d tried it, kind of, with Abel and everyone knew how well that worked out. Could she do it? Was she even... made for that kind of relationship? She wasn’t exactly sure she was, considering how shit seemed to crash and burn around her whenever things seemed to be going in the right direction. 

But still, she put on a skirt and nice top, the rare occasion of her looking like more than a slob only making her a little more nervous. She looked at herself in the mirror and let out a short sigh before going to meet Devyn in the main room of her suite. “So... do I look like date material?” she asked, smoothing down her skirt.

Another First [Aaron/Scarlet]

Stressed was certainly one way to put it – everything seemed to be getting on top of Scarlet, and she knew she’d not exactly been acting like herself lately. For the most part, she’d chose to blame it on work ( being a cop was hardly a walk in the park, a lot of the time ), but she knew she was being incredibly irritable. How Aaron was even putting up with it was beyond her, so when he took her in his arms and kissed her, she was almost too surprised to kiss him back. But her arms squeezed him tightly, and she managed to pepper a few soft kisses to his lips, chaste and brief as they may have been.

“I know. I’m sorry I’ve been such a bitch lately, I don’t mean to be. Thank you for putting up with me, I…” She leaned in to kiss him with a little more gusto, though again, it lasted only a few seconds. “I love you.” It probably wasn’t preferable to say that for the first time when she was so grouchy, but it was a sentiment she was ready to share.

It was easy. Almost thoughtless, really. Aaron couldn’t begin to understand how Scarlet handled her line of work--he dealt with numbers, but she went to work and saved lives every day, unless there was a life too late for her to save--and still remained sane. So kissing her, trying to tug her back to reality, help her realize that she could leave work at the precinct, and come home, to him, was easy.

“You have never been, nor will I ever consider you, a bitch,” Aaron said, the last word spoken with such a gentleness that it hinted to Aaron’s rare use of the word. “And I’m not ‘putting up with you,’ either. You’re incredible, Scar. A super hero.” His breath caught in his throat before he could say more, stars sparkling in his eyes as he stared back at her. Aaron brushed a strand of golden hair back, tucking it behind her ear, before taking Scarlet’s cheeks in his palms and kissing her again, so sweet and slow it might as well have been a dream. “I love you,” he said, whispering the words against her lips, staining them there like a promise. 

Easy. Almost thoughtless, really.

STORY TIME

I gotta brag on my babyyy. We went for a sneaky walk at this tiny bougie park in a neighborhood near us. We were all by ourselves except for a BUNNY!!! I was like "pip, what's that 👀" and she was like

"👁👁‼️" and TOOK OFF at this critter. Instead of diving for cover, the bunny ran allllllll the way across the open grass of this park. It's not huge, more like a parklet lol, but it's the longest she's ever chased live game. It was soooo rad to see her zoom into full extension, jockeying this critter like a real coursing dog! Then they were nearly at the distant bushes where they meet the road, and I obviously didn't want her (or the bunny tbh) ending up in the street, so I did her recall cue. INSTANT 180, booking it back at full speed with a big grin on her face. We partied big time and she got to stick her whole face in the treat pouch.

I knowwww I'm a broken record but our lives are filled over and over with "firsts" now and seeing her so well and strong and happy...makes me misty tbh... she's my best little buddy.
