TLDR: Stranger Things is an abstract representation of the traumas people experienced in the 80’s and amplifying it to bat shit crazy levels of dark to represent the emptiness of the American Dream. All these problems are coming from things based off real things the American Government did, like MK ULTRA, Fighting with the Soviet Union, Communism, The Space Race, The ongoing Cold War, and the final season is clearly facing the big baddie. Vecna is literally a representation of the monsters/serial killers that can only be made in America.
So that being said, and go watch the five minute trailer of Will’s time in the Upside Down if you think I’m wrong…but Vecna/Henry Creel is definitely based off murders from the “Golden Age of Serial Killers”, and clearly was heavily inspired off of John Wayne Gacy??
-Both grew up in the suburbs of the Midwest (Gacy:Illinois, Creel:Indiana)
- Both had fathers who were World War Vets and uber homophobes (at least in Gacy’s case) that refused to accept their sons for who they are.
- Gacy’s father called him a sissy to shame him for not being good enough and for liking men
-Creel’s father dismisses his son as sensitive for being different.
-Primarily targets and preys on young vulnerable teens (only boys in Gacy’s place) ex. WILL, ELEVEN, Billy, Nancy, Max, Christy, Barb.
-Police are negligent and label kids run aways
-Both have created a disturbing alter egos (Clown/Vecna) and usually enjoy playing mind games with their victims to trap them.
-Gacy’s Victim’s were almost all found underneath his house. Vecna’s victims get trapped in the upside down.
-Gacy’s main M.O. was usually to trick his victims into handcuffing their own wrists or wrestling moves, (lots of other weird messed up shit), and then usually killed his victims by strangulation. I don’t think you guys need me to explain what Vecna and his monsters do to terrorize Hawkins.
-They are both results oF WHEN A COUNTRY’S SYSTEM IS BEING BROKEN AND ABUSED BY THE PEOPLE RUNNING IT. STRANGER THINGS TRULY IS THIS GENERATIONS STAR WARS, (including the fact that they will milk that sucker long after it dies…but at its core the story is just too fucking good), AND ALSO A CAUTIONARY TALE OF HOW A GOVERNMENT NEGLECTING TO PROVIDE RESOURCES OR HUMANITY TOWARDS ITS PEOPLE CAN AND ALWAYS WILL CREATE TRULY EVIL, WICKED, AND VILE MONSTERS.
