Homecoming

In a way, it felt soothing to be back in the Reach. The last time she had been here was almost two and a half years ago. Things were different then though for Nikki, in a number of ways. Her family was definitely more diverse, but it also felt smaller. But still, being back here for however long was going to be enjoyable.

The progeny sighed slightly though. She was already missing her friend and peer Rikki at the Refuge, in addition to Mixxa and Flixxa. And even though there were asura she hadn’t seen in a while here, Nikki knew that the city had changed them.

But still, she had her Wintersday present of a communicator. So she could remain in touch with home even when she was far away in this home. And for now, it would have to do.

New Arrival, New Joy

It was around midday when Aleyanna finally opened her eyes on the two couches pushed together to make a quasi bed. Gregory was beside her, blissfully asleep. And she smiled as she started to fully process all of what transpired yesterday.

She still couldn’t believe that Renita now had a son. From what little she saw of him before letting the parents bond with their new child, he was definitely more reminiscent of Cameron. But she knew that Tobias had two loving parents that would always look out for him. And that wasn’t to mention the array of aunts and uncles who would also be responsible for his well being.

But all of that was for the future. The present was now and she turned her gaze back to her love. Perhaps one day, she too would bring a child into Tyria. But she knew that was a long, long, long way off. And it would involve so many talks with so many people, that she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go through with the ordeal. She didn’t want to hurt her friends, her colleagues, and she didn’t want to bring a child into an uncertain future.

The only thing she knew though, was that at the present, there was something good to enjoy. And she would do just that with those she cared deeply about.

Expected Yet Unexpected

Even with the warnings given by Renita, even with the knowledge that it was going to be harder for her housemate and friend to make the trip through the canyon, hearing her planning to go back to Rurikton for the last bit of her pregnancy was kind of a shock. The reasons were right, justifiable, and understandable. But it still didn’t take away that sort of shock she felt from the news.

Sighing, she stood by the beachside as she continued to take it all in. She knew it was going to be the best in the end, and that it was just a temporary means to ensure the betterment for all. But it didn’t mean that it sucked as it would mean an empty house, especially with guests leaving and Nikki going back with the Cartwright’s.

Shaking her head, she simply looked at the water. She knew she needed to return home and finish up some things before heading out. But she knew that she had to be strong and accept this temporary adjustment to life that was coming up. It was going to be the best for everyone.
