More AnoVerse Sillies ✨

Hey guys :) guess who has been up to stuff again.

Be ready - massive ramble session coming up on y'all about art, writing, and I have a poll at the end regarding content that some maybe be interested in seeing...?

Been messing around with AnoVerse yet again. No game dev stuff this time though - instead, been hard at work drawing and writing. Yeah I know one day I'll make up my mind on a format for my stuff lol

REDESIGNS 🎨

First thing you might notice about the above doodle - I'm working on redesigning Deejay 😲 oh my goodness !! Finally !! How crazy !! For real though, Deejay needed an update badly. He has been that same design that was once just my online sona for years and while I can't remove what makes him Deejay, I can differentiate him in some ways - especially since Joyscape has claimed the top hat for good !

So, here's a current look at the design that's upcoming ! The one above is more final, but below you can see the initial coloured concept when I was finally getting to closer to it.

He's not insanely different obviously. His hair is more messy with some spikyness to it. His clothes are overall a tad baggier. Pants are now a light brown instead of grey. Blue shirt. Etc etc. Y'all can see it.

The other 3 may get slight changes - but I don't see anyone else needing a major change anytime soon. Ave you can see some slight changes - his skin colour I wanted to lean towards being more red due to his form coming from a red liquid rather than being human. Minister is well... Minister. A tad chunkier maybe, but besides that haha. And a reminder that nothing is final ever lol

WRITING 📗

Oh my goodness !! JustDaniel !! Actually making something that feels final !! Preposterious.

No but for real, I've got some AnoVerse book writing being done. 3 chapters into it and feeling good. Progress has been steady and I'm mostly writing for myself... but. A recent university assignment helped me see more potential in my writing, so I'm curious as to what to do.

This current AnoVerse story I'll release for free when it's done I know that for sure - however I'm curious.

Would anyone be interested in physical JustDaniel OC books?

Frankly right now I don't know what I expect doing this poll. My reach here is minimal, 24 people actually following the blog and it's my besties mostly to my knowledge hi besties by the way lmao. But I'd be highly interested in knowing the answers anyway because I'd probably only need about 10 pre-orders to justify it if I did physical books. I've done the research, I know what my pricing would be, etc etc. So y'know yeah. Might be fun to do.

AnoVerse Book Update 📚

Hey guys. Hiiii. So y'know how last time I did an AnoVerse blog post I essentially did an interest check an AnoVerse book... Well I have updates because it did recieve enough for me to believe it is viable to do.

So. First and foremost - story. This story is not the beginning of AnoVerse. Consider it like a pilot book. It's not necessarily something done - I know - but not any part of how this book is being "published" is normal, and so who cares. Point is, this book is here to show the vision for AnoVerse, and has a mixture of what I want the series to be. It will not be perfect for sure, I'm not a professional writer, but it will be the best it can.

So... what is the story?

Minister and Deejay attend one of the richest parties man can afford, hosted by Mayor Plum at Illumai Manor... only issue is Minister has been an isolated inventor for most of his life, only promising to come along because he specifically got invited. Now the old man has to survive a night with his lover, worst enemy, and many new faces without having a breakdown. Meanwhile, follow the chaos back home as Ave and Danny try to navigate the darkness of their own powerless house, and subsequentially try to fix it.

As you can see, the story will have an A/B plot structure, with 5 chapters that cover each section. It's looking to be around 15,000 words, so hopefully it'll have a good amount of content for my first book!

Pricing 💲 and Roadmap 🛣

I've spent the last few weeks, between writing, looking at pricing and the roadmap for this and I think I'm ready to share this information.

The book itself will be paperback and cost £11.99 with worldwide shipping. Shipping prices will change dependant on your location: UK has free shipping; Europe shipping is £2.99; and everywhere else is £5.99. This is to account for the additional cost it will take to ship outside of the UK, whereas UK shipping is already considered in the book's price. Though, I have plans to do what I can to find ways to reduce shipping costs in the future.

Hardcover copies will come to future books dependant on sales.

As for the roadmap - there's not lots to say for this book. The current aims are:

Writing Completion - March 2025

Art Completion - Late March/April 2025

Pre-orders - Late March/Early April 2025 (Set to last a month)

Shipping - Late May 2025

Online Release - July 2025

These dates I believe are feasible at the moment - the book itself is 50% done in terms of writing with art concepts now being started (as seen by the first image). These dates are set to change, however I do not wish to have this book out any later than June 2025. This is because if things go well - I have the plan for books 1-4... but I'm not ready to share info on them just yet, besides the fact that I would like them to be released over 2026.

One last thing I'd like to talk about that may standout here... the "online release." Given that this book is absolutely a test to gage interest in the series - I need actual reviews and opinions on the book. So, as a result, I will be releasing it later online after the physical books have shipped (or we may skip straight to that if I don't get enough pre-orders). The e-book version may be free, but I may charge a small price for it, I'm currently unsure. Either way, if you wish to support and see this series be made a reality - the physical book will be the way to go as that is what WILL get this series made.

🌻Faremont Outskirts🏙️

Some concet art I did between 3am and 4am for AnoVerse. It's not perfect, there's loads of little changes I could make - but it's purely to get the concept across and hey. I did it.

So here's some notes regarding Faremont City and it's surroundings!(All locations names subject to change because idk how to name stuff lol)

Faremont City sits in the North-East corner of Fimidaia in the Illuman region. It borders the coastline, with Sunset Park being located by the beach itself (something like Blackpool Pleasure Beach for example).

The land surrounding the city are inspired by some memories of travelling through the British countryside. I have a very specific memory of seeing a purple one and thinking it looked beautiful - so as you can see, purple flowers. The team's house is also amongst these fields, just away from the busy city life. Minister built it there for the peace and quiet. The city was never quite his thing.

To the West of Faremont City begins the mountainous region of Snowdrana, home to Mount Starfor. Mount Starfor I'll expand on later, but you'll explore that area eventually within the game!

Now and then between all the fields, there will be woods scattered about. They're more South, hence why they aren't within the image. The forests begin to grow larger the further South you go until you reach Foremeer where the region is mostly forest.

There's plenty more still to learn about the world of AnoVerse, but for now I think that's all I'll share. If you've read this far - here's some sprites hehe.

✨AnoVerse Gameplay (Scoring) Stuff✨

I'm gonna be so real I'm mainly doing this cos I wanted to share new prototype footage but OBS was kicking my butt so instead. Screenshot and ramble about how the games score system will work :D

As you might be able to see above, the prototype is. Coming along. Compared to the last bit of footage I put on my tumblr. I've still PLENTY to do, such as level assets, backgrounds, proper UI, etc. But functionality is kinda my core focus besides from the odd now and then switch to the graphics (i.e. when I got sick of the static player and red walls).

The first thing I really want to talk about is what platforming features I want to just have in this game. You can see in the screenshot above a point system, "sparks", a timer, and down in the bottom left a combo system. These are the most fundemental gameply features for seeing how well you do in a level.

Completing a level will give you a rank from "Eh" to "Incredible" which is based off of your score and time. To get the highest rank, the required targets must be met. Hopefully, I can make the ranks balance out, so say if your score was bad your time might make up for it, but for a true perfect rank you must meet the max requirements for both.

Ways you can up your score is by collecting sparks and attacking enemies - fights being the more impactful way to earn points. Sparks are more so a currency, being useful in various shop points. Collecting one will net you a small point score of 10 - and will charge up your combo meter. While they may not be worth many points, they can work well for quick resets to your meter if you need a little extra time before reaching your next enemy.

I can't lie I took a break from writing uuhhh here's some older concept art trying to figure out the direction I wanted to go for level UI.
