This is geared more towards Gaelic Recon and Heathens, but anyone is welcome to answer.
What do you think will happen after you die? And why? Is your stance on the afterlife, if you believe in one, based on the lore or archaeological evidence on what the ancients believed or on something else altogether?
As for myself, long before I became a polytheist, I watched Lord of the Rings (I know, a great source to base my beliefs on). As Theoden King is dying, he says "I go now to the Halls of my Forefathers in whose presence I shall not now feel ashamed." and that's always stuck with me. That when I die, I'll go and hang out with my ancestors, and that I should live my life as fully as possible so as not to disappoint or dishonor them. And to try and make my world as good a place as possible because one day, I'll be an ancestor and I want to be proud of the world I leave my children.
I also believe in reincarnation. Not that I could come back as a flower of a cat, but as another human, sure, and not necessarily as part of my family line. But I think the choice to come back is up to the person reincarnating.
Soooo.... that's my two cents. Anyone else?? I want to start a discussion on this.
