((Don't mind me. I'm just picturing Scott and Hope dressing up like Wall-E and Eve for Halloween))
((Because Scott loves to dress up, and he will totally do couples costumes too. And Hope thinks the idea is too cute to pass up, especially when he asks her with those puppy dog eyes of his))
For those who don't understand, this is how ADHD works sometimes, at least for me.
Get an idea.
Start working on idea.
See something that reminds you of something else you wanted to do
Start working on the other thing
Come across something else that catches your attention
Invests time and attention on that thing
At least half an hour later, remember you were doing original idea
Continue working on original idea
15ish minutes later, remember other thing
Stop work on original idea and continue other thing
Somehow works on original idea and other thing at same time sorta.
Original idea initiates long spiral of work because you've hit a dead end and can't get passed this block and you consider it a challenge to get it done because while it's not essential to original idea, you want to have it for original idea.
An hour later, nothing has been done to move forward for original idea even though you've done a lot, and you realize you're hungry because you worked through mealtime.
Debate on continuing either project or leave them for another day.
🎵On the 24th day of Christmas, Ant-Mun gave to me actually all of us, me included this time:
So Ant-Mun took the 'Twas the Night Before Christmas poem and rewrote it to feature me and a special guest! It's pretty neat but kinda long, so check it out under the keep reading line!
Here's some mood music to read by if you want!
Ant-Man's Christmas Guest
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through my house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Cassie hung our stockings on the mantle with care,
In hopes that good ol’ St. Nick would soon be there.
I had just returned from a Christmas Eve tussle
And stopped some bad guys in their bah-humbug bustle.
Cassie was already snug like a bug in bed,
And I really doubt she watched dancing plums in her head.
Probably dreamed of saving the world like her old man;
I just dream time would let her stay young as long as it can.
I collapsed in my bed, not even bothering to shed my suit;
Just let me get some sleep and dream of sugared fruit.
When out in my living room there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
I ran to the hallway then I halted my dash
And was surprised to catch a glimpse of a green flash.
I must be dreaming! What did I just see?
I could have sworn I just saw something...furry.
The twinkling lights from my Christmas tree
Were the only lights to help me see,
But I knew something was definitely amiss
When I heard a snickering croak and a hiss.
Then I saw him peek out and I had to flinch!
Holy fricking crap! My intruder’s the Grinch!
I can’t believe my own eyes as he struts and laughs
And shows me he has one of Cassie’s old crafts.
Hey! That green Christmas thief has Cassie’s ornament!
And he says, “My my my, how this is unfortunate.
The pride of Ant-Man’s tree now in my grasp!”
Why that little sneak, I couldn’t help but gasp.
“You’re actually trying to steal from me?
And take my favorite ornament off my tree?”
“Why not,” the Grinch replied, “I like to cause a mess
For people like you who are big on Christmas.”
“What happened to your heart growing 3 times bigger?”
He shrugged, “Old habits die hard, and this kind of thing gives me some vigor.”
Then he took off so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment I had to catch that Grinchy trick!
More rapid than eagles we were in our game of tag
But it finally looked like I had this win in the bag!
I said, “You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch,
But catching you was actually a cinch.”
The Grinch harrumphed but offered no other chatter.
“Now, c’mon, give back my stuff and tell me what’s the matter.
Why did you really come to steal from my tree?”
The Grinch grumbled then sighed. “I want one of these things for me.”
I tilt my head; I’m definitely confused.
Why would he need my ornament; what’s the use?
“I’m sorry I don’t understand. You better explain.”
“Your ornament is special, lots of happiness it contains,
But you see, I have nothing like that of the sort.
No sweet memories or cheer, save for the Whos' newfound support
I want a trinket like yours, something given to me,
Straight from the heart just to make me happy.”
Well no wonder the poor ol’ Grinch was fighting such gloom
All he wanted was something special, a tiny heirloom,
A sweet homemade thing to warm up his old heart
Like how the ornament Cassie’s love on me will always impart.
“Aw Mr. Grinch, stealing my ornament won’t get you what you’re looking for
Nor can you get it online or from any store.
Just like Christmas, what you’re wanting comes from within
And given with lots of love that’ll make you forever grin.
I know why you want it, Mr. Grinch, and I can’t blame you.
Give it some time and I’ll bet ya Cindy Lou Who will come through.
She’s your big buddy now, right?
Just watch and see, I’ll bet she’ll give you
something that’ll excite.”
The Grinch asked me, “How is it you sound so sure?”
“Because just like Christmas, my kid and your little friend are rather pure,
And they show their love to friends and family
In those simple, sweet ways and do so happily.
Trust me, Mr. Grinch, Christmas came through for you,
And Cindy Lou Who will for you too!”
The Grinch said sorry for taking my ornament
And thanked me for my lack of judgment
Regarding his Christmas mischief
And promised that never again he’d play the thief.
We said our goodbyes as we shook hands.
“Merry Christmas, Mr. Grinch”, “Merry Christmas, Ant-Man”.
As I watched him go, I thought of all my loved ones:
Friends and family, online buddies and Anons
I’d give them all a hug if I could and hold them tight
And say “Merry Christmas to all of you! And to all a good night!”
The first time Tony held his niece was a very sobering moment.
Scott told him he could not see her if he was drunk or tipsy or buzzed or anything like that. He couldn’t bring anyone along except Rhodey, and no flamboyant gestures either.
This was during a time when the boys’ relationship was a bit strained, so Scott’s kinda wary of his brother coming to see his niece.
But Tony follows Scott’s instructions to the letter, and he and Rhodey make their way to San Francisco to see the baby girl
Tony falls hard and fast for this sweet bundle in his arm. He didn’t know he could fall that hard and that fast but he surely did.
Those big curious eyes staring up at him and that tiny, tiny fist holding onto his pinky finger just totally melts his heart and puts a lump in his throat.
“She looks a lot like you, Scott. Except she’s got Maggie’s eyes.”
Scott can’t help but smile softly at the scene. That seems more like the Tony he knows instead of the one he hears about on the news.
“Yeah well, I can see some of her uncle in her already.”
“Uh oh, in that case watch out, little brother.”
Cassie loves her Uncle Tony.
His life is a bit hectic, but whenever he gets the chance he makes his way to San Francisco or invites Cassie to come to his place, especially while Scott was in prison.
One of the reasons Tony has a place in Malibu was to be close enough to his brother and family when they needed him but still keep enough distance so he’s not a hovering big brother.
(He’s still figuring out how to maneuver through this whole rift between him and Scott. He doesn’t like it and wish it would go away)
Cassie is rather fond of the weird and the macabre, and Tony finds that fascinating and endearing.
Much like her father, her uncle will get her all sorts of strange, ugly things that she just loves to bits, and it warms Tony’s heart every time she grins at him and exclaims just how much she loves what he got her.
And it moves him so much how much he melts when she exclaims how much she loves him too.
She looks so much like Scott that it’s uncanny.
Tony is transported back to childhood many many times with just a look from her or how she tilts her head when she’s confused or when she hums when she’s thinking or working with her hands or when she furrows her brows when she’s in the zone. Like father, like daughter.
However, there can definitely be something said for like mother, like daughter too. When she’s nervous, she chews on her lower lip like Maggie. She’ll twirl her hair around her fingers when she feels shy, and she’ll huff and stick out that jaw and put her hands on her hips like her mom when she’s annoyed. And her pout is just like her mom’s too.
This kid has a quick wit, and Tony loves it. Tony says it’s from Scott, but Scott says it’s from Tony. Maggie says it’s a Stark thing in general.
There’s been numerous times Cassie has got Tony in stitches because she gets on a roll, and honestly, it’s hilarious.
She’s got a knack for technology, but she loves English and literature and history more than the sciences.
But Scott’s right. There is some like uncle, like niece too.
She loves cars. She loves his cars. She wants to drive so badly she can’t stand it, and she wants to know how to fix and maintain her own car.
Scott never cared much for that kind of thing, but that is soooooo up Tony’s alley and he loves it.
They talk cars all the time.
“Uncle Tony, will you drive your Audi R8 e-tron the next time you come visit please?”
“Sure thing, Cassafras, which one?”
“The red one, duh.”
Scott: “The only things I understood were Audi and red.”
Tony’s already planning on what car to “suggest” to Scott to get her for her 16th birthday.
Cassie learns how to drive from Scott, Jim, and Tony (but she loves when Tony teaches her though she’ll never tell the other two that)
Tony is more relaxed as a driving instructor, and he explains not just the how but the why and he is big time about car safety. After all, for the longest time, the Stark boys thought their parents died in a car crash, so both of them are about driving safety.
((Oh my gosh yes! Yes, that’s a very good point, Anon!))
((Once again I went overboard so read the whole thing below))
When Scott returns from the Quantum Realm, he has no phone and he’s too discombobulated to even think about calling anybody. It wasn’t until he saw his name on the memorial that he was freaked enough to do something.
He learned from Cassie the gist about what happened and that Tony’s kept in touch with her often. He’s had her and Jim (I headcanon he was the only one who survived and stayed with Cassie) over to his and Pepper’s place numerous times over those 5 years and they’ve gone out to California to stay with them too.
Family’s extra extra important now after such a tragedy. And Cassie’s been grateful for her Uncle Tony and Jim during all of this
After Scott makes it to the Avengers’ compound, he’s disappointed to find Tony’s not there. But he knows where to go thanks to Cassie and he wastes no time in getting there. He goes alone. He’s anxious to see his brother and sister-in-law (Tony finally tied the knot! Good for him) and his niece <3
Tony would recognize that van anywhere, and he’s flabbergasted to see it pulling up to his home.
No…no it can’t be. But holy shit, it is! It’s Scott! It’s his baby brother back from the dead! Scott’s at the wheel of the van, and Tony runs out the door before Scott can put the thing in park.
The hug lasts a long time. Tony’s too choked up to say anything, and Scott’s too overwhelmed to say much either.
“I thought you’d been dusted like the rest of them. I thought I’d never see you again, Scott.”
“Tony, I - I’ve only been gone five hours. I’ve been stuck in the Quantum Realm. I - I go in and everything’s fine. I come out a few hours later to find….my kid’s five years older? Lots of people I love are gone? You’re married and have a kid now too? I - I…this is a lot.”
Then it occurs to them both right then that Tony’s nine years older now. Not four years older anymore. And because of the stress of Th*nos, Tony looks it.
And Scott looks like he’s about to break down just from the confusion and stress and craziness of the world he came back to.
Tony sees the overwhelming panic and confusion in his kid brother’s face, and he pushes aside his own feelings that have been brought back to the surface. How he mourned and grieved Scott’s loss, how he and Cassie had a little service for him and the rest of their loved ones. How he felt so alone because his best friend and brother was gone and he never got to say goodbye or that Tony loved him.
No, instead he pulls Scott inside and decides to try to cheer him up. Scott’s got a million questions, and Tony patiently answers them but also tries to do things to help Scott relax.
They go to his lab and start tinkering with stuff. Scott objects at first, but he can’t resist for long and the ploy helps.
Scott learns about Tony being on Titan and about that fight and about Doc giving up the Time Stone and about Peter (oh God, not his nephew too!) and Tony being stranded in space and everything.
Scott didn’t tell Cap and Natasha his idea about time travel when he got to the compound. Hell, he didn’t even acknowledge Cap’s presence because of what happened during Civil War.
But he tells Tony. And Tony actually listens. He doesn’t think it’s a good idea, but it’s an idea. The first one to be had in five years. He starts seriously mulling over it too.
But that conversation is set to the side when one curious little girl makes her way down to the lab to see who’s with her daddy.
She’s seen her uncle’s photos all over the house. She’s heard her daddy tell story after story after story. She decided she liked her uncle based on everything Daddy told her and wished she could have met him.
Scott can’t help but grin a face splitting when he sees this cute little kid who looks just like Tony. Much like how Cassie looks like him.
He squats down to be at her eye level and she hesitantly approaches. “Are you my Uncle Scott?”
Scott chuckles. “Yeah, I am. And you must be Morgan that I’ve heard sooooo many good things about.” He leans close like he’s about to tell a secret. “Is it true you like to sneak into your dad’s lab sometimes and play?”
Morgan giggles and Tony says, “Just like her uncle.” She notices her dad smile and it’s genuine. She likes when her dad genuinely smiles, and she likes Uncle Scott for making him smile.
Morgan also decides Uncle Scott gives some pretty good hugs too.
When Tony’s armor starts to go offline, that scares the hell out of him. What’s going on with his armor? Why would…?
And then it hits him. There’s only one person who can make this happen.
“SCOTT?”
“Looks like you’ll have to go home and take this to the shop, Tony.”
“What the hell are you–”
“Trying to fight without actually fighting.”
“Then come with me.”
“But what about the–”
“How do we know that’s true?”
“Because Cap said so. Why would he lie?”
“To protect Barnes, Scott.’
“And what if he’s right? What if those other Soldiers do something bad because we didn’t stop them? That’s on us, Tony.”
“Scott–”
“I don’t want to fight you. I don’t! But I feel like going after those guys is the right thing to do. Help us, Tony. Please.”
“I…my hands are tied, Scott.”
“…Then I guess mine are too.”
F.R.I.D.A.Y. deploys the fire suppression system, and Scott escapes the armor in the nick of time.
A short time later, Scott reveals just what kind of “big” distraction he has, and for a brief moment, Tony is super impressed and super proud at what his kid brother just did.
Like holy shit he grew big!! He’s a giant!
But at the same time, how long has Scott been keeping that secret under his sleeve?
“Anybody on our side hiding any shocking and fantastic abilities they’d like to disclose?”
See? He’s amazed and impressed, even though he is annoyed by the whole fight.
At this point, GiAnt-Man is just trying to cause enough commotion and disturbance to distract everyone enough to make sure Cap and Bucky get away, and that includes damaging some stuff and throwing stuff at the others in the process.
If they’re so keen on having this fight anyway, then fine. Scott will give them a fight.
He knows what he’s doing won’t hurt them too badly, but it’ll be enough of a-pain-in-the-ass stuff to bring all the attention to him, and that’s what he’s going for.
Meanwhile, Tony’s thinking what the hell happened to trying to fight without actually fighting?
To him, this is starting to get ridiculous, and it’s been going on long enough.
Time to cut the fight short, and Rhodey’s on the same page he is.
When Pete suggests they go all Empire on Scott, Tony and Rhodey really don’t have any qualms in carrying out that plan.
It hurts Scott’s pride that he’s been KO’d, but he can’t decide if he should bothered or pleased that he was taken down in such a…nerdy way.
Taken down because of Star Wars…can’t get much nerdier than that.
“…Does anyone have any orange slices?”
Scott is KO’d and totally worn out from being giant like that, and he’s okay with staying out of the way now. He did his part and that’s the best he could do.
Now it’s up to Cap and Bucky.
Scott just hopes this will all be worth it. If Cap and Bucky can stop those rogue Soldiers, then that would be enough…right?
After Tony checks on Peter and before he can go check on Scott, the Quinjet takes off, and Rhodey calls for Tony to help him go after the Quinjet.
Rhodey calls for Vision to fire at Sam to get him off Rhodey’s tail, and…
Well we all know what happens then…
Scott watches the whole thing in horror from the ground.
He can hear some of it from Sam’s comm, and he can only imagine what he can’t hear.
Oh God, no no no no no, not Rhodey! Not Rhodey!
Maybe if he can hurry and grow giant again, he can catch Rhodey. Maybe that would be enough to save him.
Scott scrambles up and tries to hurry, but he’s too weak and he stumbles. He’s fighting to stay conscious himself from being giant like that, but he still tries.
But he watches with tears stinging his eyes as Rhodey crashes into the ground.
Blood Brothers AU - Tony finding out Scott’s in prison
Tony’s been kidnapped for 4 months at this point, and Stark Industries gave up on getting Scott to take over 2 months ago for which he was thankful.
He did not want to work with Obadiah at all, and as much as he respected the company his dad created and wanted to see it back to the way his dad intended it to be, Scott knew he was not the guy to do that.
Besides, he was having a hard time shaking Tony’s bad rep all the way in California, who knows how bad it would actually be at Stark Industries.
However, even if Scott wasn’t dealing with being a Stark thanks to Tony’s rep (and partially their grandfather Howard’s rep) at VistaCorp, he was still dealing with bad treatment from his coworkers.
Turns out that being hella smart - smarter than your boss, never mind your coworkers - just turns people the wrong way.
Which is part of the problem when Scott blows the whistle on the company. He’s already disliked, and then he figures out what the company’s doing and that’s just not a good combination for him.
Vistacorp fires him, and Scott does what Scott does and goes to jail for it.
And then the divorce happens and all that negative jazz
Tony returns a few months after the fact, and he starts the Iron-Man stuff and he turns Stark Industries around, and he does things that would make his parents and his brother proud.
Tony tries to reach out to Scott, but his number’s been disconnected. He tries reaching out to Maggie, but her number has been changed. Weird.
He asks Pepper if she’s heard anything from Scott since he’s been gone, and Pepper gives him a soft, apologetic look.
“I need to show you something.”
She has JARVIS pull up everything related to Scott and the Vistacorp job, and it takes Tony a few minutes to digest what he’s seeing.
Contradicting headlines from competing news reporters tell different sides of the story.
The ones in Vistacorp’s pocket scream things about how Scott’s a thief and a vandal and a menace seeking revenge on losing his job.
The other side of the story - the real story - gets told in Scott’s defense. Headlines like Stark Vigilante Sticks Up for Common Man, Modern Day Robin Hood Takes Down Company, Vistacorp Whistleblower Takes Matters into Own Hands
Then there’s stuff from the trial.
The prosecution dragging Scott’s name and the Stark name through the mud, somehow managing to drag Tony and their parents and even their grandfather Howard into it too.
The defense throwing Vistacorp’s dirty deeds into the light and showing Scott’s a good man who was trying to help when after doing things the system’s way only got him fired.
The jury seemed to empathize with Scott but only to a certain extent, and he was sentenced to three years.
And any photos of Scott from the trial showed him as quiet, solemn, not really apologetic for doing what he did, but also…scared. Tony could see his kid brother was scared.
Then Pepper informs Tony that shortly after Scott was sentenced, Maggie filed for divorce, and despite Scott’s pleas for her not to, the divorce was quick and painful.
Tony wastes no time in heading to San Francisco to see Cassie - if Maggie will let him see her - and to see Scott.
Maggie lets him see Cassie because she’s so adamant and so excited to see her uncle outside their door and because Maggie is relieved to see Tony alive and well after his experience
Tony is unsuccessful however in getting to see Scott.
The first time he tries, he’s told that Scott’s in solitary confinement and isn’t allowed to have visitors right now. Weird. That doesn’t sound like Scott.
Tony tries more than once to see his brother or to get letters to him, but every time he’s turned away without seeing him and his letters are never answered.
That is thanks to Obadiah Stane. He managed to intercept Tony’s letters before they’re ever mailed, and he paid some sleazy OCs in the prison to make it appear like red tape was keeping the brothers from uniting.
Eventually, Tony has to return to Stark Industries with the plan to come back and try again, but then Avenging kind of gets in the way. You know how that is.
It’ll be a while yet before the Stark Boys reunite
