Apparently there's always penguins around this whaling-era post (to anchor boats, if I recall correctly). The expedition leader posited that they think it's some weird kind of penguin.

Adult kelp gulls & bonus fur seal. You may notice I never normally post photos of seagulls. This is because I don't want to somehow encourage them to continue being near me, but native species get a pass.

Anyway, you won't be seeing any brown skua photos from me because they scavenge off penguins, and needless to say this is a mortal affront.
