so i bought me:a a looong time ago but never really got around to playing it until recently. i just did a really quick playthrough (<24 hours total to finish the main plot) and i’m wondering... is that it? like i know some things were left open with a possible dlc or follow-up in mind but wtf?? are there side quests i’m missing that explain some of this (like the circumstances behind the angara’s creation) or was the base game just lacking that much?

A solid 90% of the game’s current existing lore is hidden in codexes both ambiently and in side quests ((also the books..))… because Bioware. But those don’t really give what you’re asking for. I love Andromeda for what it is (I mostly play for the exploration and the squad bonding), and Mass Effect likes to leave some room for interpretation, but yeah, this one was released extremely unfinished. The base game is obviously lacking a few huge chunks of its story. They had five years, but apparently the majority of the game was pulled together in that final 18 months. They should have postponed it… Everyone was a little mad that the game was released so -clearly- unfinished (in both story and graphics, though they patched quite a bit of the latter since..), and some might have complained a bit more loudly/rudely than was necessary. But instead of owning up and fixing the problems ((like Hello Games did for No Man’s Sky, I’m still in awe)), EA decided to pout. They fixed a few things and then essentially said “if you don’t like the game then you don’t get any more” and canned the single-player support to focus on the multiplayer. (I never touch multiplayer, not my style, so I regard this as a Very Poor Choice… but that’s just me.) So, with Bioware having already said there’s no dlc, because of the aforementioned pouting, we have to wait for the novels to see if the story ever gets truly resolved.((I mean, they did say there could -possibly- be a sequel to Andromeda, but the series is currently effectively on hiatus….)) So yeah, for now, that’s it. :/
