Starburst anemone (Anthopleura sola)
I tried out my new underwater camera yesterday. I still need to attach the tray, housing, arms, strobe lights, video lights, wide angle lens, etc etc.... and more importantly learn how to use everything. Not at all used to this camera so didn't get very good photos but I did love these pics of tiny aggregating anemones I got. The white ones are white because they are out of the sunlight and can't support the Zooxanthellae that normally live in this species, but all these photographs are the same species- Anthopleura elegantissima.

crochet sea anemones!
From top right to bottom right to the left:
Fish Eating Anemone, Urticina piscivora
Giant Green Anemone, Anthopleura xanthogrammica
Aggregating Anemone, Anthopleura elegantissima
Watermelon Bubble-Tip Anemone, Entacmaea quadricolor
I’ve seen all of these species while scuba diving in the cold waters near Seattle, Washington except for the Watermelon Bubble-Tip anemone which lives in tropical waters :)
