Lestat is a just a terrible character with little charisma or heart. He is too violent ( and I’m not just talking about the stupid drop) in season 1; basically function as a narrative device until the very end of season 2; and he is passive, pathetic or a bully in season 3. I will never understand the love people feel for him. He is the epitome of a Mary Sue — even his failures are ultimately portrayed as emotional wins and for what?

Moreover the shows decision to add trauma to his backstory in season 3 is so ridiculous. It’s nothing but an attempt to make him more sympathetic since he is such a raging narcissist and psychopath. If they want us to like him, why not make him genuinely nicer in some way? No, instead just have him abuse Louis and Claudia, cheat on Nicki, cheat on Louis, insult and devalue Armand as well as sexually objectify him, a former child sex slave who was groomed, bully and disrespect Daniel after he (or his people) HIRES him to set the story straight, and not just murder but torture humans (for funsies). Yup, he’s a real winner. Eye roll. He can call Armand soulless all he wants but he is the one who is soulless.

Armand, for all his flaws, is a far more interesting and a far more likable character—even cutting off Louis’ head, I still think he has more of a moral compass and is far kinder in every conceivable way. And don’t tell me he’s a liar who killed Claudia. Don’t care. Lestat intended to help kill Louis and Claudia too when he returned to Paris for the trial. He is GUILTY and yet the show and Louis completely absolve him of his crimes. I honestly do not understand how people ship Louis and Lestat. From season 1 I have never seen an ounce of romance from either one, just cheating, manipulation, lust, and violence. What is their love even built on?

I am just so sick of all the love and praise heaped on Lestat for no reason. Other than how sam looks, tell me what is appealing about Lestat? What do you really like? I also can’t stand how most Lestat fans (stans) who love him have this extreme hatred for Armand and Daniel, and honestly even Louis to some degree. I will continue to hate Lestat despite the show and Lestat fans insisting I just don’t understand how amazing and darling and beautiful he is. Just like Lestat fans love to say they wish Daniel and Armand would just die, I wish Lestat would die. Obviously that won’t happen, he’s a Mary Sue and Anne Rice’s self insert, but good lord, he sucks.

im sorry but this is the stupidest thing i have seen all week.

hey guys maybe he's cringing at the very public murder and cannibalism of living human beings and not because he "hates theatre people". maybe the gruesome and unnecessary torture is the part he finds distasteful, seeing how entire ARCS in this story have revolved around his ethical dilemmas about vampirism. i do not see what cringing at a creepy play has to do with him supposedly liking lestat more than he likes armand.

to be clear, im not saying louis didn't love lestat but you people do not need to wade through the depths of hell to find new ways of twisting every tiny bit of the loumand tale into "Loustat are just soulmates!" "Lestat is just better than that sociopath, that gremlin freak!" "Lestat is just so much more talented and handsome and masculine" "see, see, he misses lestat! he needs a big strong white man to take care of him!"

it’s old news by now but i still need to say this: the people getting all condescending and “oh nooo the violent show about violent people is being violent who could’ve guessed haha you’re stupid if you’re affected by this” about iwtv were annoying as fuck. like sawry if Black and brown people were upset by a graphic display of DV? “but the show’s already so violent” normalized killing of background characters vs watching a white man do all that to his Black partner while their daughter screams for him to stop. if you don’t understand the difference that’s on you. if you still ship loustat that’s your own baggage. should’ve left the people having perfectly normal and understandable reactions to the show out of it instead of pulling the Ultimate Loser Move of thinking you’re better than everyone because you’re unaffected by graphic/disturbing scenes

At this point, there's a chance they race-bended Louis to create a beloved & mainstream story of overcoming white violence with boundless, senseless, & long-suffering (wrt the extremes of the white violence, of course) Black love.
