if you are buying clothes from temu because other emo/scene/goth/punk clothes aren’t affordable (yet you can afford just. basic clothes) you aren’t alternative. i can’t dress exactly how i want due to money and lack of cool clothes in my area, but i refuse to support temu, shein, aliexpress, etc .

i do understand that sometimes those clothes are peoples ONLY option. then buying is excusable, i get it.

if you really want the clothes that badly, remember that DIY is pretty damn punk !

It annoys me so much how I always have to be the person being okay with things. I have to be okay with the heavy AI usage in our world. I have to be told 'oh just buy it from shein. it's cheaper'. I have to be told 'oh it's just politics it's not that big of a deal'.

They go on and on about having compassion when they have none. Where's your compassion for the planet? The people who are getting exploited so you can get cheap things? The people who are heavily affected by these political decisions? Just because it doesn't affect you doesn't need you shouldn't care.

TikTok has this weird problem where people will post $500+ SHEIN hauls and then when they rightfully get criticized for it, they reply with “not everyone can afford anything else!!” And I find it so strange - like you can spend hundreds of dollars on SHEIN but suddenly 5 dollars for a shirt is too much if it’s thrifted? Strange people.
