Re this post: I suspect the reason Scott Goldsmith narratively functions less as a person and more as an oppressive system is because of his tonal dissonance from the rest of the cast and his lack of character backstory coming in - which, to be clear, is a decision I love the effect of even if it wasn't intentional. The crux of his character is essentially that he doesn't see anyone else as real people, because they're literally not. The little we eventually do learn of his backstory only reinforces this: as a feudal lord, he was the law, the top of the hierarchy, and the beneficiary of systemic inequality (gender, class, hell, even race if you want to argue it).
Scott Goldsmith's goals essentially boil down to self-perpetuation. He wants to win, and to subjugate anyone who opposes him, and most of all, he wants to live. He enjoys living.
As for specifically the gender politics of it all: although obviously he doesn't see anyone as an equal to himself, there are some people whose interiority and autonomy he acknowledges (Legs, Martyn, Abolish) more than others (Apo, Shelby, Drift). Misogyny is just another tool of suppression, to him. Being willing to diminish oneself and accept his authority is really a prerequisite for joining his inner circle, honestly; he hates when people say they didn't choose it.
As you may or may not have seen, Pyro has stated he is no longer comfortable with shipping.
My majorscythe fic will be discontinued after chapter 6, and I will no longer engage in ships involving pyro.
Majorscythe made me start writing and for that I couldn’t be more grateful- and I forever will be. But CCs boundaries are my priority, especially in fics with the nature of mine.
It was a pleasure to write for this amazing community, and of course I will continue writing for other fandoms and ships, but my majorscythe works will be discontinued. This does NOT mean I will take them down. They will still be available on my AO3. I’m grateful for this notice as now I can give the fic somewhat of a complete and satisfactory ending.
Update to this, I have decided to abandon the fic. I am much too tired to complete it and I feel it is the right choice. Thank you for taking this journey with me.

Last school year (2024-2025), I was fully closeted, depressed, and attempted suicide. Since I couldn’t be out to my friends I constantly felt like I hid a massive secret from them.
This school year (2025-2026), I socially transitioned and I haven’t had a suicidal thought since. I feel like I huge weight has lifted off my shoulders and I’m not constantly stressed out about people finding out.
So instead of fear mongering, maybe listen to actual trans people, thanks.
I believe that Apo and Cherri would be up for polyamory, but literally all of Oakhurst just fumbled Apple so hard by not treating her like a genuine person. Many traumatised oakhurstians could have a) scored not one but two bad bitches and b) gone home to a warm place full of laughter and love. But nooooo, she had to be perfect or she was a monster. Never mind that not a single other person is held to the same standard by the other characters and the fans.
