It breaks so many doctor codes of ethics it's wild.

I'm forever thinking about how canon Fierrochase has most of the interesting qualities I projected onto Solangelo. In my fics and in my head, I kind of had to build Will from the ground up. I had some basics— he was a healer, he was a smart-aleck without being malicious— but from there I had to extrapolate and invent other facets of his character. Alex and Magnus are both fully rounded and detailed, and their relationship has a certain intimacy that Solangelo— both the version I first fell in love with while reading Blood of Olympus and the later version solidified in canon with the Trials of Apollo books— completely lacked. Magnus and Alex are in it for the long-haul. Their relationship is the opposite of rushed. At the end of two whole books of serious pining, they don't even end up as an official couple. It just....... UGH it's forever going to upset me how underrated this ship is.

So I’ve been reading anti solangelo posts and now I’m in the mood for a quick rewrite.

Nico waked back to Will with his heart racing. He though he could have handled that a little better but hey, he still had a bit of a grudge with Percy, even if he thought the older boy was a hot pice of ass.

His hand stung a little too, annabeth was MUCH stronger than she looked, and he appreciated it, it gave a distraction from the potentially disastrous admission and got his mind back to Will.

Will, who was currently glaring at him, arms crossed and tapping his foot agitatedly. Nico opened his mouth to speak but was cut off immediately.

“What was that about?” Was the quick demand. Nico was definitely right in his second assumption, Will solace was aggravating, made more so by the older boy roughly grabbing his arm and marching him to the healing tent. “You know what? It doesn’t matter.”

Nico tore his arm free and turned on the blond with a harsh glare, somewhat pleased to see that he flinched this time round, “what the fuck solace?! Stop dragging me round like I’m some sort of doll!”

Will had the gall to look confused as he stared down at nico, before slowly letting out, “I’m taking you, my friend, to the infirmary, where you are going to help me for the next three days, just like you promised. Maybe you *are* an idiot” It was patronising really, and as pretty as the boy might be, it seemed his attitude didn’t reflect that.

Nico let out a insidious snort, leaning away, “who told you we were friends? Yesterday was the fist time we even interacted and all you have done since then was *insult* me. All I promised was that I would rest for three days, and being your nurse isn’t exactly resting.”

Will was the one to look shocked this time “but you said you were staying at camp! Death b-”

He didn’t get to finish, nico cut him off, spitting at his feet, “Vafancullo stronzo! I told you not to call me that! I am not your friend and you are not mine. Yes I’m staying at camp because you’re right! There are people here who want to be my friends, and I will not let my cousins, my sister, down, because they are worried about me!”

By this point the pair had attracted a crowd, and nico noticed Percy jogging over with a slight frown, and annabeth on his heels out right scowling. The older couple made a b-line for nico, and as soon as they were in hearing range Percy spoke up, “nico, one of the Apollo campers mentioned you were having sone trouble with your powers, thought it might have something to do with,” percy’s eyes flickered between his cousin and his girlfriend, “downstairs, ya know?”

Nico rounded on will once again, “have you been telling *everyone* that I’m sick?! That I’m weak?! What else have you been saying about me solstice!” He felt a hand rest on his shoulder, Annabeths, he noted, and turned back, the blond was out right glaring at Will and Percy had settled piercing green eyes on the son of Apollo.

“We thought we should take a trip to see your dad,” annabeth said in an overly cheerful voice, Percy twitching ever so slightly at the mention of Hades, “ask him if this has happened with any of his other kids”

Nico jerkily nodded, before marching over to Thalia’s tree, Percy and annabeth trailing behind. He turned and held his hands out to the two people he had idolised ever since Bianca died, before Percy scoffed. He quickly stuffed his hands in his pockets, prepared for another fight, before the older boy spoke up, “nico I hate to say it but they are right, you shouldn’t use your powers for a bit, annabeth convinced me to do the same” he drew his hand out of his pocket and flicked a dramchma onto the road, “hope you’re ok with grey cabs little cousin, I’ve been told I have a good singing voice, so we are off to central park.”

Nico looked behind him, before nodding resolutely, walking towards the Misty taxi, feeling just that little bit lighter.

all right so now i’m finally at a computer so i can try to explain my issues. i’m sorry if this comes out biased but i was/am such a huge percico and jasico shipper that i just. get so bitter lol

i guess i’ll start with boo? 

nico’s feelings for will came out of literally nowhere in the last few chapters of the last book of the series. and i know they don’t technically get together in that book, but the fact that nico comes out to percy as what basically comes down to a joke (”you’re cute but you’re not my type”) is just so disrespectful to lgbt readers? i wanted actual closure. instead, nico gets a crush on a random side character who has only appeared a handful of times throughout the series. we don’t know anything about will solace in hoo besides the fact that he’s a son of apollo and he’s a healer.

the fact that he’s a healer? and nico is a sad gay kid? bad shit!! no thanks!! 

i read the first book of the trials of apollo, hoping for better (i’m not sure if i’ll read the rest of the series BECAUSE I WAS SO LET DOWN but) 

nico in toa is basically unrecognizable. he’s a completely different character. 

i know he’s “happy” now but the way it’s written leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. as i remember feeling, it’s as if nico’s struggles never happened at all

honestly will is just?? an asshole to nico?? like he’s a completely different character when he isn’t around nico (the same for nico, actually). it’s astounding how badly written it is

also, my petty reasons: 

it’s literally fucking everywhere. if i go on nico’s tag, like 9/10 posts are s*langelo it’s just exhausting. if i go on reyna’s tag i’ll still find it. it’s just everywhere and i hate it

Hi the post infuriates me

It was a big moment when Nico finally revealed his feelings for Percy in front of Jason and Cupid. While Nico’s bravery was admirable, the truth that he had a crush on someone as tragically straight as Percy was utterly heartbreaking. Thankfully, all of Nico’s friends were loving and supportive. Annabeth never even gave him a side-eye. As far as we know.

1. He was outed

2. It wasn't bravery that had him forcibly out himself it was pain and fear and the force of him BEING OUTED

3. Percy is not fucking straight and the books have heavy hints otherwise and YOU DONT GET TO SAY WE CAN INTERPRET HIS IDENTITY AND THEN PULL THIS BS IN PRIDE MONTH

4. How is any way that Percy acts with guys at all straight?

5. Annabeth? Not giving him the side eye? What's the implication here? That she's homophobic? That's shes jealous of a child liking her boyfriend that literally went to hell for her? Make it make sense, oh wait it doesn't. She gave him a fucking high five what book did you read!?

If Nico hadn’t come out to Jason, who knows if he ever would have worked up the courage to confess his feelings to Will. At first, we weren’t sure they were ever going to get past their we both like each other but we’re too scared to admit it so we’re just going to bicker all the time phase. In fairness, though, that’s a rite of passage for most demigods before they start dating.

This ship was not actually set up in anyway. The emotions were shoehorned in and Will forced him to listen to him. There is no "oh we like each other but shy" stage. Did you read the fucking book?

Nico has control over the dead, and Will’s healing powers are used to keep people alive. They’re quite literally night and day. It might be hard to see what drew them together in the first place . . . until you remember that rebelling against your parents is a big factor in young love.

Do I even need to explain what the fuck is wrong here??? You're saying their relationship is just teen rebellion??? And that their parents would be mad for them getting a partner so different??? Bitch Hades married the Goddess of Spring.

Fortunately for Nico and Will, nothing helps strengthen their relationship like continuously risking their lives together.

It’s been a long road for these two, but after a series of seemingly never-ending deadly quests, Nico and Will now have the strongest bond of any two campers at Half-Blood.

Sorry you're gonna say these two that have done 1 half-quest together are closer than like Percabeth that literally went to Tartarus together???

But if they ever take the trip to Tartarus that Nico mentioned, that could test them in entirely new ways—maybe even break them apart . . .Kidding! Just kidding!

Nothing could ever come between these two.

Then again, we all remember what happened to Orpheus and Eurydice . . .

The whole fucking ship is unhealthy and this post is written like a rabid shipper from Tumblr got a job there and shoved every negative anti-Percy and Annabeth headcanon possible into it just to make sure that it's clear that solangelo is superior.

Their relationship is built on cards and help up by the glue of desperate need for Rick to look like a gay ally.
