How was Caroline in charge of an entire school's welfare when she couldn't ever figure out that Stefan was so wrong for her
The really annoying thing about the vampire diaries is the writer's constant lying and trying to convince me of said lies i.e
Katherine loved both of the Salvatore brothers but especially St*fan
St*fan is a decent person/vampire
St*fan is not really responsible for his actions when he shuts off his humanity
Damon influenced Elena into doing all of her morally questionable deeds
Matt and Tyler have ever been friends
St*fan was a good boyfriend to anyone (but especially Elena)
Nobody would run off with Rebekah and treat her right
All the witches (except for Bonnie sometimes) can go back on their word and betray everyone while also being morally superior
God, those episodes where Caroline has her emotions off are PAINFUL to watch.
Every time I go back to watch those episodes I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how anybody thought that it was a good idea to use her mother’s death as a push for the Steroline romance. It was bad before, and it’s just unbearable after. The fact that she would flip off her emotions (which is, in itself, incredibly OOC) because ~~Stefan didn’t say I love you is like... What the effing hell. That Caroline Forbes, strong, fierce, full of light as previously stated, the most kick-ass vampire in the show, mourning her mother, would flip off her emotions BECAUSE A DUDE DIDN’T SAY I LOVE YOU. Yes, let’s take all these years of character development and make her out to be some codependent, insecure little girl again, why not?
And then, when she DOES flip it off, Stefan gets all concerned because ‘Oh no, I did this’. The NERVE. Her mother just died but it is, somehow, all about Stefan. Who, by the way, spent the entire previous episodes ON THE FENCE over whether or not he actually cared about her because “Hmm, I don’t know, it’s not like Elena” and comes to conclusion that he does, in fact, has feelings for her with the grand quote “Not all love has to be epic”. That’s endgame stuff, right there.
And this is the dude I’m supposed to believe Caroline loves so much she cannot stand to have her humanity on unless he loves her back.
Just shoot me.
I don’t really know another good comparison here so bear with me until I think of one;
Loving Stefan for being a ‘good man’ is like admiring Cristopher Colombus for being an explorer.
Stefan can’t be good without Damon there, and even then he uses Damon’s guilt to back out of the corner so he can go off and do bad things to others. He killed children and compelled living children to believe their parents died in a fire when he drained the blood from them. He used a good woman to get over his pining for the last female doppelganger. He sacrificed a life of being a ‘good husband’ for making sure his ‘one that got away’ got to be with his big brother in the end.
quick observation here;
Both times that Caroline mentioned stefano on originals season 5, she had an angry tone. Now maybe that tone’s directed at Klaus, or it could’ve been directed at Stefano.
I mean, the guy knew what him leaving her did to Caroline all those years ago. The most he could muster up was ‘All I can say is I’m sorry and hope you can forgive me’ (which he’s really good at making it sounds sincere) And Caroline re-experiences losing Stefan, on their wedding night. No doubt she reacted the same way that time as she did the first time; the imaginary bookclub, crying by herself by a lake for weeks on end.
This is not a guy that ever deserved Caroline Elizabeth Forbes.
If I were to hazard a guess, the only reason why she kept wearing that stupid ring on her neck was because some director told her to. She wasn’t Forbes-Salvatore anymore, she outgrew just being in Mystic Falls all the time and traveled the world even if it was mostly to bring students back to her school. Damon might’ve been the one to suggest the name, we don’t know. It was Alaric’s over-voice that told that perspective.
Stefan the Bonnie Killer (Part 2) Elena is whose best friend?
Season 3, Damon and Stefan are informed that Rebekah is going to kill Elena if the circle isn’t broken. Specifically, they’re told the only way to do this is for Bonnie to die. Both of these men have to now figure something out fast. They’re both reluctant to do this, so they settle on flipping a coin. Stefan wins and is about to kill Bonnie, but just in time, Damon comes up with another solution and feets Abbie his blood and snaps her neck. To absolutely speculate on the characters, I presume that no matter what happened with the coin, Damon was making sure Bonnie got out of that situation alive.
Given that Damon won the coin toss, and still took it upon himself to take the “kill,” it’s safe to assume Damon was trying to buy time with that, not pawn it off on Stefan. Elena confronts Damon after all of that is said and done, and Damon assures her that if push came to shove, he’d always choose her and not the witch. Stefan was there, and she knew if it hadn’t been Damon, it would have been him, but Elena has no conversation with Stefan about this. Stefan and Damon speak amongst each other about how Stefan gets to be the good guy only because Damon is there to be the bad one and do the bad thing that has to happen on Elena’s account anyway. The fact Elena never gave Stefan a little speech suggests that Elena’s aware of that as well. Only what Damon hadn’t figured out was that Stefan would be the bad guy if Damon wasn’t up to it, it was only a game they played that if Damon didn’t do it it wouldn’t happen because Stefan is just too nice.
Not only was this the first time that Stefan tried to kill Bonnie, it also happens to be the first suggestion that Elena wouldn’t mind if he did. She half-heartedly suggested to Damon that she would be upset if he did, but she was both touched and relieved when he reassured her that her life was the priority and he would kill Bonnie if need be. She notably did not say anything to Stefan at all. It’s starting to not seem like such a coincidence that Elena always has someone willing to kill for her.
Stefan The Bonnie Killer (Part One) Trust your Gut
Buckle up, kids. We have a meta on our hands, and it’s a doozy. It’s been a really long time since I thought, much less posted much about the Vampire Diaries. I moved on to other things, other fandoms. But I was casually thinking about the show and was struck by something that made the mostly incomprehensible final seasons of the show make sense.
I couldn’t help but notice Bonnie never asks Stefan for help. Given that’s she’s (at least) Damon’s best friend, it’s kind of odd, right? She’s dealing with life-threatening danger, they’ve been shown to be friends before, yet she doesn’t go to him for help, even when things get bad. The only two possibilities are that she does and he refuses, or she feels that she can’t. What reason would Bonnie have for feeling it’s a bad idea to ask Stefan for help?
I’m going to come right out and say it: the reason is that Stefan is a danger to Bonnie. Besides season one where they start to become friends, things have always been a little weird between Bonnie and Stefan. She never quite gets comfortable with him after touching his hand and feeling death. At the time, I (along with many of us, probably) presumed that death she was feeling was a result of his vampirism. But funny that, she touched plenty of other vampires and that never happened again. Not Damon, not Caroline, not Enzo. She specifically only has that sharp reaction and makes that comment about Stefan.
We know that in addition to her more offensive witch abilities, Bonnie also possesses psychic abilities, and it’s made clear that those are present regardless of the state of her other magical ability. That’s merely a part of her. What if the reason Bonnie is so wary of Stefan is that she gets explicitly the impression he’s likely to kill her? Sure, the way he’s acted towards her has almost always been neutral to friendly, but something in Bonnie told her to not believe that shit because that man was going to try to murder her. Not threaten, not irritate, not hurt, but kill. If that’s what her gut said, then it was sure right.
Steferine
It’s funny that Stefan told Damon he wouldn’t survive being human, when in fact it was the opposite. Stefan couldn’t handle being human. He had nothing to fall back on, to grasp his darkness and take it out for a spin for a few months. He lost the ability to be able to go out and slaughter people, then go back into the arms of his loved ones who’d say ‘it’s okay, you were humanity-less.’ He couldn’t use that excuse anymore. And knowing he had no excuse for his darkness, he couldn’t live his human life. And he married Caroline, who is basically an upgraded version of a human, correct me if I’m wrong, and pretty much lived a human life except she relied on blood instead of just carbs and nitrates.
And also, Katherine. I think she liked that Damon worshipped her, and when she saw that he was in fact moving on and was happier without kneeling at her pedestal, she punished him. Because she liked being obsessed over in a non-murdery way. She just didn’t like the fact that his devotion pushed away the man she truly wanted, her equal.
Although, if Katherine had given her human life the old college try within the safe confines of loved ones, I think maybe she’d do better than Stefan. She had had 500 years of scheming and living in the shadows, but given the opportunity to just be out in the world and be human again like she had been before she’d given birth to Nadia, she might adapt to human life again. She’d prolly be able to help Stefan get better at it. Hell he should’ve married her.
