Cassian said that he couldn't figure out why Nesta's sisters loved her, yet Nesta is cruel for telling him to stop and go home multiple times.

Cassian said that everyone hated Nesta, yet Nesta's cruel for asking if he was done panting after her.

Cassian said that he didn't have a choice in being shackled to Nesta, yet Nesta's cruel for saying she didn't have a choice in becoming High Fae.

Is this misogyny or are people really misremembering who the cruel character actually was?

made a post about the canon things that happen to Nesta (in regards to Nessian), someone who likes them together replied with fanon, I asked them substantiate their claims with canon and they stated that I was right and they didn't have any actual canon backing and then replied with more fanon.

Feyre says that very few people like Nesta. Mor says that she's a wicked monster who would thrive in the CoN, and doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. Cassian says that everyone hates her.

Meanwhile, Nesta is out here making friends like nobody's business: Gwyn, Emerie, the Valkyries, Clotho (really it feels like Nesta's befriended all the priestesses except Merrill), Bryce, Ember, Randall.

And then, of course, there's Eris, who wants to marry her after only three dances.

The IC are really the only ones who can't see how amazing Nesta is.

If Nesta is pregnant in that Ember BC, then that just makes Cassian and Rhysand's treatment of her so much worse.

Cassian will let his family berate his pregnant mate in her own home?

Cassian will let his brother threaten his pregnant mate in her own home?

Cassian will ignore the emotional well-being of his pregnant mate?

Cassian will allow his pregnant mate to believe she's going to be executed by his family?

If that's how Cassian allows his family to treat his pregnant mate, can you imagine how he would let them treat his child?

I hate seeing people justify the punishment hike.

You can get pissed at your significant other, but you cannot punish them because of it. You cannot ignore their physical and emotional well-being because of it. You cannot give them the silent treatment for days on end because of it.

That punishment hike, alone, makes Cassian one of the most immature and abusive mmc's I've ever read about. And then the narrative justifies his treatment of Nesta by saying he heard an ancient and wise voice telling him to treat Nesta that way to "heal" her. That's just straight up deplorable.

I see people justify Cassian leaving Nesta naked, ass in the air, with his semen dripping out of her after the kelpie incident because Nesta had asked for "just sex." Nesta mentioned in her inner monologue that she thought "just sex" would at least come with some cuddles, which means she thought it would come with some form of aftercare. Nesta has had a lot of sex, so every male she slept with in Velaris was obviously giving her proper aftercare and cuddles. How she ended up with Cassian is beyond me.

Aside from that, though, if Cassian truly wanted to be in a relationship with Nesta and settled for "just sex" because that was all she was willing to give him at the moment, shouldn't he have been going out of his way to give her proper aftercare and cuddles and treating her like she meant something to him so that she could see what it would be like to be in a relationship with him? Him not even giving her the bare minimum of aftercare just seems to me like he was punishing her for only offering him sex.

I say this as someone who loved Elain in the original trilogy, but I absolutely hate her in ACOFAS and ACOSF. Her and Nesta's fight scene is truly baffling and reveals a lot about Elain's character. Elain was the instigator of that fight and said incredibly cruel and hurtful things, yet she pulled her fake tears and cried to Rhysand about Nesta? I'm not denying that Nesta said some cruel and hurtful things, too, but so did Elain. Where was the accountability for Elain? Elain has a habit of making Nesta's trauma all about her, which is exactly what she condemns Nesta for supposedly doing. Elain's such a hypocrite. This whole fight scene just really proved that Nesta is never exclusively the one in the wrong - she's just the only one ever held accountable by the narrative.

There's even scenes where Nesta's not in the wrong at all, yet she's condemned by the narrative. Case in point: the Nessian interaction in ACOFAS. Nesta said nothing cruel or hurtful - Cassian did - yet Cassian threw a pity party for himself in front of the IC, so they all thought Nesta was in the wrong when, really, it was Cassian in the wrong.

Another example is the "Everybody hates you!" scene. Once again, Nesta said nothing cruel or hurtful - Cassian did - yet Cassian and Feyre threw a pity party for themselves, so the narrative paints Nesta as being in the wrong when, really, it was Cassian in the wrong.

No character is perfect, but it's the way every other character says cruel and hurtful words to Nesta while simultaneously crying about her hurting their feelings and that's just a turn-off for me on so many characters.

I feel bad for Nesta. For Nesta to constantly have to be around Mor, knowing that she slept with her husband and that Cass loves Mor? That's just cruel of SJM. And then to have Mor join the Valkyries? For Nesta to see Cassian embarrassed of her or what she wants because of a former lover?

Then, there's theories that the former Valkyries may be Koschei's prisoners, which means Tanwyn may come into play and be hanging around Cassian, too?

And when I think about it, I don't think SJM has done this to another fmc. They may meet their endgame's former lover(s), but they don't hang out with them on the daily. Cassian's really the only one who still has any affection for a former lover, from what I recall.
