‘Cause yeah, basically they did. It looks like an anti-Stevidot sentiment, but people so easily forget how SU’s fanbase is filled to the brim with bullying sociopath antis who LOVE throwing loaded buzzwords around to win their ship wars. Crewniverse has gone on record telling these people to stop bullying others over this specifically.

And everyone either forgets Rebecca Sugar’s gone on record saying she supports every ship in SU, or twist it by adding on “well she didn’t mean these gross-ass ships!” when they obviously lack evidence to back up that claim.

Really, the only realistic way of minimizing the fandom brutality was for Maya Petersen to shut down all shipping talk - both for and against it. Because anything positive would get dogpiled by a shitload of antis who don’t know what pedophilia actually is, but they’ll gladly wield it like a nuclear weapon to protect their sacred Connverse.

And Crewniverse has better things to do than have to deal with this kind of headache, really. They’ve got lives; I barely have one, and even I wouldn’t want to be bogged down by the imminent loads of shit from a rabid-ass fanbase.

So thanks to antis, all ship talk has to be banned. Make sure you all take the time to thank your local anti for taking away a nice liberty we would all normally have! Because their actions basically took away their own rights in this particular space as well. They can’t shit on Stevidot any more than we can love on it in this tweet.

I really do feel for this team and all the shit they’ve had to deal with in their tenure. Pretty sure none of them anticipated getting a fanbase this notoriously bad when all they’ve made was a show all about change and open-mindedness and accepting others’ differences.

But yeah, considering the promo image is based off La La Land and Steven and Peridot are in the positions of the romantic leads of said movie in said pic, there’s no way Crewniverse doesn’t support Stevidot any less than it has supported any other ship. Otherwise, they probably would have based the promo pic of this episode off something else entirely…
