born to Anurai's warrior Tsu'mong and unknown na'vi from Tayrangi clan where he was born and raised among Ikran People of the Eastern Sea; shortly after passing a Rite of Passage he decided to leave his village and joined Wind Traders traveling with them so far as to Boneyard of Anurai clan where he was teached the way of his people, and where he also met a young hunter named So'lek;

it was also during his stay in Anurai village when he first came across RDA forces lead by Sean Wallen. he wasn't there when the same enemy threatened his home of Tayrangi - it was during Battle of Ayram Alusing his mate has died, leading him to who he bacame, growing distant, almost hostile to people of his own kin (especially Sully's family);
giving Anurai's are consider a master artisans and craftspeople particularly adept at making bone tools and artwork, Te'lana owns one of his own - a flute made of the bone of his loved one took from cliff nooks overlooking the sea where Tayrangi clan lays their deceased who are then eaten by small banshees;

a member of Tayrangi clan - independent spirit, untethered to convention and unburdened by even the strictest of Na'vi clan rules like the rest of his people, showing much interest, almost child-like fascination over Sky People's technologies and their culture (he compulsively collected theirs tools);
though admired by many among his clan—by women and men alike—he chose Te’lan as his mate, simply captivated by his unique features (giving he is half-Anurai na'vi); attention-hungry and possessive;
hot-headed and somewhat reckless, what led to his death in Battle of Ayram Alusing
