So, I have a headcanon in ALIP that the smoke shows people their worst nightmare in order to weaken them so it can possess them. Thoughts?

Thank you.I used to have this post detailing my thoughts on the creature when I wrote it. I broke it down completely and explained why I did certain things. Even explained things I didn’t get the chance to. Someone even made a theme song for the creature!When I moved this to a main blog, I said I would re-write it if there was interest but there wasn’t much. Not many people had read ALiP at the time. BUT! To answer your question, it’s a bit like sensory overload. The creature was based on a thunderstorm. It was supposed to be loud and tingly and overwhelming. A headache while your legs felt like they fell asleep and your arms became jelly and everything was so loud. Like finding yourself fine one moment and in the middle of a typhoon another.
