Sliiightly hot take (or rather the implications) but when Saskia says she was there at the battle of La Valette castle because she found Aryan’s cause worthy, she’s lying. She’s 100% lying. She got involved purely because Foltest and his Blue Stripes were fighting on the other side. She’s only attacking Roche, his men, and Foltest because that’s what she came there for. Geralt just got in the way, and the other soldiers in Foltest’s army (or fighting under Aryan) were never targets of hers.
The implications are a Hot Take TM because I see a lot of interpretations floating around the fandom that Saskia would eventually get past ~their differences~ and get chummy with Roche or Ves. So let me make it perfectly clear that the Saskia I write would rather drop dead than be friends with either of them.
Her motal convinctions are staunch to a fault and she’s unwilling to compromise. She’s perfectly capable of making judgements in shades of grey, but this is a much simpler matter-- if you’re with the Blue Stripes, you deserve to die. And Saskia has no qualms whatsoever with being the one to make that happen. She doesn’t take anything else into consideration, poor meow meow circumstances, etc. because being accepted as part of an elite Special Forces unit is not the same as some poor sod being roped into joining the army. It takes a special brand of initiative and dedication, and that’s all she needs to know.
