it’s the way shane immediately removes his glasses the moment ilya points them out as if expecting ilya to tease him about it, to comment on it, and clearly there’s probably a reason ilya has no idea about shane wearing glasses despite them knowing each other for almost ten years. “oh but they’re having sex not reading” listen but ilya not knowing shane wears glasses means it’s very likely the public & media do not know shane wears glasses and I would say it’s highly unlikely shane has never needed them out in public. which would reason that shane likely doesn’t like people to know he wears glasses. so after shane removes them when ilya points them out, ilya asks him to put them back, implies that he likes shane’s glasses—likes seeing shane in his glasses. and while that is a true statement on its own, it also reads as a lot of care and understanding ilya has for shane, to subtley provide a positive reaction to something that shane is impartial or dislikes about himself.

Tessa’s mother was a shadowhunter + Ithuriel’s protection = extra protected from Belial, even though he is her father.

James has full shadowhunter blood from his father + a quarter ish from Tessa = not enough angle blood to protect him from Belial (his grandfather).

But in the same time, Belial can possess James because they share blood, otherwise he could not be able to do so, because shadowhunter kids get protection runes when the silent brothers and iron sisters baptise them.

Jace was possessed/ controlled by Lilith because Valentine killed him in book 3, and when Clary asked Raziel to revive him, he was as new as a child (not protective runes) EVEN THOUGH HE HAS EXTRA ANGEL BLOOD ?
