During this week I've seen a post pop on the dash which addressed a topic that was wonderfully worded, in a way that I wouldn't have thought of but which conveys the sentiment I was meaning to bring up perfectly for some time now. Which is energy matching and I would like to go one step further and nuance it for shipping. I love shipping like the next person and I know I've been dropping some posts here and there about feeling like writing some of it, for which a few people have shown interest into as well. While I do like to ship and write things surrounding it, it's not just about writing it. I have done it in the past and doing so just leaves a feeling of emptiness in me that I don't like nor it's worth it just to make the shippy itch go by writing something.
The reason why I always say that when it comes to shipping with me I need communication is because this is the missing part that makes the experience whole to me. I know some may not need it, that are more liberal when it comes to writing these without establishing much if at all, just to feel the vibe and later decide if to continue exploring it or not. I'm not that kind of writer, even though, once again, I did try it years ago and it's just not for me. In this regard in specific, if I consider that the energy isn't reciprocated (which can be in more ways than one: writing, talking, taking the initiative to approach to discuss xyz things), that will be a clue for me to not pursue a romantic relationship anymore if we ever touched on the subject. It's okay, it happens and it doesn't mean that I won't continue with interactions of other kind, just not shippy in a romantic way.
i think that they should meet
Silly little WIP posting at 2:30 am when no one will see it is so fun
Anyway, ghost au. This one is low priority, but it’s a fun concept I think
Steve and Nancy move to Boston together. It’s a totally platonic situation, it’s just easier financially, Nancy is going to school, and it gives Steve an escape from his family.
They get an apartment and notices that something is Off. The lights flicker, things often fall over at random, stairs and doors creak at night, the usual creepy old apartment stuff.
Well, Steve decides the apartment must be haunted. Nancy thinks he’s stupid. He proceeds to leave offerings for the ghost. Cookies on the counter, little trinkets on the shelves, etc. The trinkets disappear, but the food never does. Once, he leaves a paper and pen, and the ghost actually writes something.
Nancy insists it was from his last one night stand and that he’s making shit up.
After a whole semester of this, Steve decides to take a trip for the break. (Steve enters his eat pray love arc). Nancy is left alone in the apartment and… The weird happenings don’t stop? In fact, they get worse. Nancy finally starts to believe that something is happening.
She impulsively buys a Ouija board and uses it to communicate with the ghost. At first, it refuses—it downright throws the triangle thing. However, after a lot of coaxing she finally gets a name.
Robin.
It’s difficult communicating at first, but the more Nancy finds out, the more clearly she can see Robin. She finds old papers tucked in a closet, drawings taped under the mattress, abandoned objects throughout, and she slowly pieces together who Robin was. Eventually she can see and hear Robin and they’re able to converse—Nancy discovers that Robin was killed but doesn’t know what happened, and Nancy enters her paranormal investigator arc.
When they have downtime, Nancy and Robin actually end up growing closer. They talk about life, Robin helps Nancy with homework, they watch TV together (and Nancy gets annoyed when Robin uses her ghostly powers to change the channel without permission)
The truly unfortunate thing is that you can’t bring someone back from death. Nancy spends weeks building Robin’s life from scraps, but she can’t restore it to the girl. They start to solve the mystery, and Robin begins to realize that the unfinished business that tethered her to this world?
It’s almost finished. She’s beginning to fade. It’s harder to speak, harder to move objects.
They realize they have two options—solve the mystery and let Robin go, or leave the crime unresolved, so that Robin can stay. Robin leaves it up to Nancy.
Nancy is left to wonder. Is loving a ghost really worth the pain? Is she willing to say goodbye so that Robin can finally rest?
Happy birthday sunshine. You made this year special in so many ways for me. Feel so proud to get to finally see all this happen for you. 31 looks good on you. 😘
you never gave a shit about me! you don’t give a shit about me because you don’t have to! right? you’re sitting pretty in your ivory tower, and i’m a fucking insect crawling on the wall so you can squash me, right?
something that i really like about lithuania is how they compulsively take care of people and yet are still bad at it. they feel this need to take care of everyone in their life, even if the other person doesn’t always deserve it (they try to help prussia when he’s living at russia’s house, even though they have every motivation to let him suffer), but the quality of that care isn’t that great and they dont seem to be aware of it. like, they see it as their Duty to take care of the other baltic states, and liet wishes they were more of a family type of vibe (imo they’re like work friends who are becoming real friends) but they never notice the affection that the other baltics have for them- and that’s part of their larger issue of latching onto toxic people, like poland and russia.
but it’s so interesting, right, cause even though they’ve hurt liet in the past, they still take care of and receive affection from them. and they have some level of awareness that they’re being taken advantage of, because they know things are uncomfortable or unbalanced while they’re living with Poland and Russia, at least before ww2. but they still believe that those guys are worthy of their love and care- maybe even more than the people they claim to be an older brother to. i think it’s the whole thing of like. they feel like they still have to earn love from poland and russia so they go out of their way to be accommodating, even if they’re afraid of or uncomfortable around them.
and the ways that they do try to take care of the other baltics is just so interesting to me, because there’s the stuff you’d expect, like making sure their basic needs are met- like cooking and cleaning the house, making sure latvia has enough clean socks, and that eduard’s glasses are still in one piece. but it’s not the sort of emotional caretaking they chose to do for poland (who they KNOW is a bad friend and a bad husband**!!!). maybe they think that the other baltics are more okay, mentally, than poland, even though i don’t think they are! they’re probably a little bit worse off, actually, because they don’t have that emotional support or the real family vibe that lithuania wants/thinks they have. in reality, the relationship between estonia and latvia isn’t as strong as liet thinks it is, and that’s just so. yeah, they don’t actually know what the other baltics need from them in terms of caretaking, because neither of them are as compelling to lithuania as the people who have hurt them- there’s no figuring out why, there’s no staying awake at night wondering what they could’ve done different, no suffering at the hands of their brothers- they don’t provoke his anxiety, so liet doesn’t take them into consideration as often. he assumes that because they’re good to him, that they’re cool with the way he’s treating them, and yeah maybe they are- The other baltics really do like liet’s affection and love and all that, but liet doesn’t ever give them enough or do it in the right way.
grrr i love lithuania and they’re a very good and flawed person and TERRIBLE at communication, even though they pride themself on it! they see the fact that they’re taking care of their brothers and they think Ah Yes, I Am Being a Good Person, but they don’t realize that it’s so much more than that! like, latvia and estonia are relatively low stress people for them to be around, so that makes them think they’re not stressful in return, even though they very much can be
**i think that poland and lithuania were married during the polish-lithuanian commonwealth, bc that’s sort of how it started, with the marriage of the polish queen and the lithuanian king in 1386, but i dont think they were actually “””together”””” until the union of lublin
