i touched on this a bit in my collei fic but I am, as always, thinking a lot about social/socioeconomic/cultural factors when it comes to disability and I Do think a lot about dunyarzad vs collei and their experience with eleazar. but the most interesting part to me actually relates to the divine specifically? where for dunyarzad Nahida's presence during her illness, despite Nahida's lack of ability (at that time) to actually cure her or indeed do anything to improve her physical condition at all, was a huge boost to her quality of life and inspired in her significant devotion to a deity whose worship is not only unusual at the time but actively discouraged? and meanwhile Collei's in a very bad position in general but on top of that the very genuine lack of divine intercession drives a lot of her anger and hurt. and it's such an unanswered question why Nahida appeared to Dunyarzad and not Collei. Is it a power level thing, she could only at that point appear to one or two sick children? Was there something about the experiments Collei was undergoing that prevented Nahida from accessing her? Was the goddess of flowers "blocking" something somehow? Was it just bad luck? I think that pre-Sumeru archon quest Collei has told herself that she's okay with the gods not paying attention to her but she's not actually okay with it, and finding out that Nahida was also trapped and being controlled and experimented on (or, like, collateral damage to an experiment) etc for things she couldn't control would actually be quite healing for Collei. It wouldn't engender any religious awe (that ship has kind of sailed) but it would release some of that guilt. and then hearing Dunyarzad's story would bring that all up again, but worse in some ways despite now knowing (of) Nahida as A Person Who Exists In The World As A Person (Cyno's Boss The Dendro Archon) and not God.
and then of course Collei is the one with the vision. and her vision is, specifically, dendro
