hc that vox outmatches everyone when it comes to manipulating the masses/people he doesn't know, but the moment he's put on the spot by someone who has some sort of relationship with him beyond professional, he somehow morphs into Hell's Worst Liar.

his tells become way too obvious, his guilty expression is plastered on a full HD tv screen that he can't exactly hide (unless he swaps it for a default screensaver but COME ON, they can tell), and he'll also rarely use his eye manipulation technique on people he's close with because they'll either a) catch the signs leading up to him trying that b) have preventative measures because they KNOW HIM or c) he just won't try it at all because it's one of the few mercies he'll grant to those he deems friends.

from a distance, behind a screen, hell, maybe even on a call-- he can pull off a decent lie. but right up in his face?? with someone like vel or val or alastor?? nah they'd fucking clock that shit SO QUICK SJHDJHSAJSA.

rewatching Fhjy and I had a thought; I haven’t seen anyone mention potential lasting stuff from the night yorb fight bc. Like. It was kinda brutal???

And when in Season 3 Episode 1, Annabeth takes out her ski cap and reveals her newly bleached and blonde dyed butterfly locks, both nodding at her book description and showing the pass of time and character's growth with the contrast, all while giving Percy an anxiety attack because OhZeus she look so pretty but he hasn't talked to her in months and last time they saw each other she kind of kissed him on the cheek and now he doesn't know how to talk to her and she's expecting them to DANCE?? with each OTHER??? while he's been avoiding to overthinking about her even though he misses her so much????,

What's a ship or character you haven't written yet, but really want to?

So technically I’ve written a short Leia and Qui-Gon drabble, but I’ve not written more than that, and there’s something really intriguing to me about the conflict that happens when you stick the two of them together.

They’re really similar in a lot of ways, not just in terms of character traits (hello stubbornness) but the way those traits manifest. They both have a tendency to steamroll anyone in their way (hello stubbornness again), both have a staunch devotion to their ideals that they refuse to compromise on (even when it would be better for them to listen), and they’re both big-picture thinkers (sometimes to the point of not being able to see the littler but equally important things).

Part of my philosophy for writing Qui-Gon is that he should always be forced to cooperate with people who challenge him, but challenge him in a way he can push back against. He doesn’t grow as a character when he gets stuck inside his own head and becomes totally set in his own opinions, but to be able to argue, he has to be working on a similar wavelength. It’s why it’s hard to write him and, say, Luke arguing—Luke is operating on a totally different level, with a totally different understanding of how the galaxy works and a very dissimilar ideological background. Leia, on the other hand, is a perfect opposing force for Qui-Gon.

Leia also needs someone to push back against—there’s a reason she doesn’t go for nice men—but in addition to that, she sets a standard for the people who love her and want to be around her to live up to. Han actively has to work to become a different person if he wants her not just to love him back, but to see him as an equal. Leia knows what she needs—a true partner—and she doesn’t settle for less. But sometimes she goes too far and falls into the same trap as Qui-Gon—thinking everyone has to meet her on her terms—and that’s not good for her either.

For me, that’s where Leia and Qui-Gon could get really interesting. Qui-Gon has a tendency to believe that he’s got the full picture—that he can see everything because of the way he is. He’s not going to believe he needs to change unless something drastic happens. But Leia won’t take him as he is. To see them together—to write them actually in love as a couple—would take figuring out what gives him that push to change, what makes him admit that he loves Leia, and furthermore, that he’s not the person he wants to be. And, in turn, writing them would mean figuring out what makes Leia realize that maybe he’s not so wrong about everything after all, and that maybe she has some growing to do too.

it's so funny to me how shannon made sophie be really angry/upset about talentless people being treated as second - class citizens.

lmao actually i think it points to Sophie's humanity, her upbringing, and the hypocrisy you see in it is what the elves see in it. I agree there is a bit of irony in it, but i think it's got to be purposeful.

because what Sophie thinks when she looks at the world is what humans think, the Black Swan made her that way, to fix the problems in society.

in my opinion, it's the point! which i think is really an interesting writing tactic, which I've used a couple times in my own writing. It's like, as a different(and more jarring) example, writing an abled character in an extremely ableist society, but having them feel really wrong about the ableism that's evident in the society. It shows either a compassion or an uneasiness in the wrongness of the immoral actions. If nothing else, it shows that Sophie has a heavy set sense of morality, and a moderately okay sense of conscience.

Shannon gave her character a lot of respect for people who are very different from her, living very different lives. Which is a pretty neat character element in an elven world where for the most part that doesn't exist, and that sets her apart from the rest of her world in a more integral way.

On a almost moral basis, Sophie views the world like a human. She thinks that all people should be treated equally, as most(95% or more of Americans at the very least, I'd say) people do. She doesn't want to disciminate against the talentless, and the thought of it makes her uncomfortable and a little upset, and she wants to change it, you can tell in the way she reacts.

But, Sophie Elizabeth Foster is 12 years old when she comes to the lost cities. And 12 year olds were never made to change the world.
