whilst i hate gossip girl’s ending (if it wasn’t obvious already) dan and blair’s relationship and development has what it takes to back up an inevitable affair post-series and i find the concept quite interesting.

while i wish we could have seen them remain friends by the end of the show, considering how their relationship began i can’t imagine them (or blair mainly) “hating” each other for long but i live in a fantasy world so what do i know?

dan still being the only person blair can truly confide in because even in their (terribly-written) endings they’re mirrors of each other.

along the way, blair would realize, yes, she was in love with dan. she is in love with dan. (“so if you’re that guy with serena how could she not love you?”).

i’m terrible at analysis if it wasn’t obvious but i am a dair affair believer and maybe it’s just me coping with the fact that they aren’t endgame but i fairly enjoy the concept as well.

I think one thing that SCOY does well compared to other BLs is showing things that are sexy to the characters. Most BLs that have sex/sexy scenes (thinking of Cutie Pie as a recent example) make those scenes hot or sexy or enticing for the audience. Yes, the characters are into it, but it’s shot in a way that is appealing to watch—soft light, background music, spliced-together shots showing only the good stuff like shirts coming off, kissing the abs, etc. Toh and Nuea’s sexy moments are first and foremost sexy to Toh and Nuea. I thought the condom scene was extremely funny, but I didn’t doubt it was a very hot experience for them. Toh’s constant little whines and gasps and heavy breathing might have been edited out and replaced with music in another show but Nuea thinks it’s hot, so they’re kept in. When Toh was drunk on mushrooms, the man was drenched in sweat while making out with Nuea, but jokes on you, Nuea’s into that shit! So the man stayed sweaty. Idk, it’s just nice to see a show portray that when you love someone deeply or are just really attracted to them, un-sexy stuff becomes sexy. Everything they do becomes beautiful to you.
